Base Pay: $37.10-60.58/ hour (+vacation, medical and dental insurance)
As a part of an interdisciplinary team, the DentalHygienist will provide hygiene services to patients and promote overall patient wellbeing. Responsible for prevention and control of periodontal disease; assess signs of disease and health in the oral cavity; identify the dental hygiene problem; and plan, implement, and evaluate dental hygiene care. Perform dental measures designed to preserve teeth and prevent the spread of oral disease. Provide necessary care while protecting and respecting patient rights. All of the Duties and Procedures as outlined by the Dental Board of California that are allowable as well as all chairside clinic support requested.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, implement, and evaluate dental hygiene care
Assess signs of disease and health in the oral cavity
Identify the dental hygiene problem
Remove deposits, accretions and stains from the unattached surface of the teeth
Apply topical agents essential to complete prophylaxis under the general supervision of a licensed dentist
Polish and contour restorations
Oral exfoliative cytology
Apply pit and fissure sealants
Preliminary examination including periodontal charting; intra- and extra-oral examination of soft tissues; charting lesions, existing restorations, and missing teeth; classify occlusion; and myofunctional evaluation
Promote overall well being
Prevent and control periodontal disease through:
Providing bacterial plaque control instructions.
Oral prophylaxis treatment
Non-surgical periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing)
Periodontal maintenance care
Nutritional guidance
Behavior modification
Oral care product education
Performing the following procedures:
Periodontal soft tissue curettage
Administer local anesthetic agents limited to the oral cavity
Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen when used as an analgesic
Work in concert with the Shasta College Dental Hygiene training program
Additional duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of current dental hygiene principles and ability to involve the supervising dentist when appropriate.
Willingness and ability to follow clinic policies established as result of regulations and/or grant requirements of State Department of Health, Rural Health Division, CHDP, State licensing and certification and.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in applied science dental hygiene.
Registered DentalHygienist State Licensure upon hire and maintain current.
CPR Certificate upon hire and maintain current.
X-ray License upon hire and maintain current.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years' experience as a dentalhygienist.

10. Perform supportive periodontal therapy to achieve an acceptable level of stability and health after periodontal treatment.

13. Apply desensitizing agents to coronal and root surfaces as needed for sensitivity

23. Scheduling of all appointment types to optimize Dentist's and Hygienist's schedules to be efficient, productive and manageable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Switch on compressor/water system and x-ray units in each room.
* Set up procedure trays for all a.m. patients.
* Flush water lines in operatories.
* Prepare treatment room for each patient (includes appropriate instruments, barriers, records, x-rays on view box if applicable)
* Greet, seat, bib, and prepare patient for treatment
* Review/update patient health history
* Verify pre-med is taken, if indicated
* Check informed consent for updated information/signature
* Take blood pressure on patients 18 and older
* Develop a working knowledge of each patient's record and where information is located
* Take x-rays as indicated by Dentist.
* Chart entry for exams (missing teeth, restorations, etc).
* Always assist dentist chairside, including passing and receiving of instruments, oral evacuation and retraction and preparation materials. Be prepared to assist in the event of an emergency.
* Take alginate impressions.
* Sterilize instruments in accordance with OSHA guidelines; set up trays; put away instruments; sterilize exam rooms according to OSHA guidelines.
* Performs weekly spore testing of sterilization equipment.
* Call prescriptions to pharmacy as directed
* Prepare filling of prescriptions for sliding scale patients according to protocol.
* Assist in keeping lab clean.
* Change cold sterilization solution according to guidelines.
* Change ultrasonic solution according to guidelines.
* Coordinate patients and procedures, keeping flow steady.
* Perform coronal polish and prophylaxis of children, if directed by DDS.
* Update supply order list; keep operatories stocked.
* Wipe counters, equipment, containers in sterilization room daily.
* Maintain dental equipment.
* Lubricate hand pieces daily
* Clean and maintain autoclave as specified by the preventative maintenance schedule.
* Clean and maintain station including waste water as needed or as specified by the preventative maintenance schedule
* Attend weekly staff meetings.
* Maintain current license through completion of required continuing education courses.

Job Title: Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant Department: Dental Reports To: Dental Back Office Manager Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm for first 90 days than move to 4/10 Under general supervision of a qualified dentist and clinic manager in an ambulatory care setting at the Round Mountain and/or Redding location, provides assistance on all procedures authorized by the provisions of the Dental Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned which may become essential to the position
.
* Switch on compressor/water system and x-ray units in each room.
* Set up procedure trays for all a.m. patients.
* Flush water lines in operatories.
* Prepare treatment room for each patient (includes appropriate instruments, barriers, records, x-rays on view box if applicable)
* Greet, seat, bib, and prepare patient for treatment
* Review/update patient health history
* Verify pre-med is taken, if indicated
* Check informed consent for updated information/signature
* Take blood pressure on patients 18 and older
* Develop a working knowledge of each patient's record and where information is located
* Take x-rays as indicated by Dentist.
* Chart entry for exams (missing teeth, restorations, etc).
* Always assist dentist chairside, including passing and receiving of instruments, oral evacuation and retraction and preparation materials. Be prepared to assist in the event of an emergency.
* Take alginate impressions.
* Sterilize instruments in accordance with OSHA guidelines; set up trays; put away instruments; sterilize exam rooms according to OSHA guidelines.
* Performs weekly spore testing of sterilization equipment.
* Call prescriptions to pharmacy as directed
* Prepare filling of prescriptions for sliding scale patients according to protocol.
* Assist in keeping lab clean.
* Change cold sterilization solution according to guidelines.
* Change ultrasonic solution according to guidelines.
* Coordinate patients and procedures, keeping flow steady.
* Perform coronal polish and prophylaxis of children, if directed by DDS.
* Update supply order list; keep operatories stocked.
* Wipe counters, equipment, containers in sterilization room daily.
* Maintain dental equipment.
* Lubricate hand pieces daily
* Clean and maintain autoclave as specified by the preventative maintenance schedule.
* Clean and maintain station including waste water as needed or as specified by the preventative maintenance schedule
* Attend weekly staff meetings.
* Maintain current license through completion of required continuing education courses.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education/Experience:
Current licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant in the State of California. Must have good working knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology and techniques. Must demonstrate ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
* Certificates and Licenses:
Current CPR certification and X-Ray license. RDA license if applicable
* Language Ability:
Must have intermediate level language skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals, groups or employees of organization.
* Math Ability:
Must have basic math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
* Reasoning Ability:
Must have intermediate level reasoning skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Centricity practice management software a plus but not required.
* Equipment Skills:
Working knowledge of all standard dental equipment, including sterilization equipment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, implement, and evaluate dental hygiene care

Remove deposits, accretions and stains from the unattached surface of the teeth
Apply topical agents essential to complete prophylaxis under the general supervision of a licensed dentist
Polish and contour restorations

Promote overall well being
Prevent and control periodontal disease through:
Providing bacterial plaque control instructions.

Performing the following procedures:
Periodontal soft tissue curettage
