Provides input in the development of policies, services, and procedures to improve the oral health care in the area and to improve Health Center utilization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform dental procedures, oral surgery, and dental services
2. Take impressions of the tooth, teeth, and jaws or perform any phase of any operation incident to the replacement of a part of a tooth; or supply artificial substitutes for the natural teeth.
3. Construct, reproduce or repair any prosthetic denture, bridge, appliance or any other structure to be worn in the mouth with written prescriptions as a duly licensed and registered dentist; and place such appliance (s) or structure (s) in the mouth, or adjust or attempt to adjust the same, or deliver the same.
4. Furnish, supply, construct, reproduce or repair prosthetic dentures, dentures, bridges, prescribe for or treat disease, deformity, efficiency, injury or physical conditions of the teeth or jaw or adjacent structures.
5. Extract or attempt to extract teeth or correct or attempt to correct malformations of teeth or of the jaw.
6. Repair or fill cavities in the teeth.
7. Diagnose, make and adjust appliances to artificial casts or malposed teeth for treatment of the malposed teeth in the mouth, with or without instruction as he deems necessary.
8. Use Digital or X-ray machine for the purpose of taking dental X-rays and give interpretations or readings of dental X-rays.
9. Administer an anesthetic of any nature in connection with dental operation and use the word dentist or the letters, D.D.S., D.M.D., or any other words, letters, title or descriptive matter which in any way represent him as a general dentist able to diagnose, treat, prescribe, or operate by training to correct disease, pain deformity, deficiency, injury or physical condition of the teeth or jaws or adjacent structures.
10. Perform dental operations or render a diagnosis connected therewith.
11. In addition to the professional services provided as a dentist he/she shall direct the Dental employees designated to assist in his work including but not limited to dental hygienist (s) and assistant (s) and will train new staff as the need may arise. He will precept any licensed Dental Hygienist in accordance with the “Law Relating to the Practice of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene of the State of Maine.
12. Participates in physician, team and staff education and training for integrated care; continuing education about integration and evidence-based practice is routinely completed to maintain knowledge and skills.
13. Participates in the Care Team as outlined in Team Approach to Care Protocol
14. Performs additional duties or projects as assigned by the Dental Director or designee.
15. Adheres to all company policies and protocols.
16. Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all incidents, regardless of severity, immediately to their supervisor and completes an incident report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.
17. Conducts themselves as a good steward in the communities served, represents the organization at outreach activities as needed.
