Position Description The Supervising Dentist assists the Program Manager and Lead Instructor in the preparing Dental Assisting students with such items as radiation safety, x-rays and patient screening and signs off on the student's skills. The Supervising Dentist will oversee pit & fissure, and coronal polish procedures. The position typically reports to the Program Manager. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform student and patient examinations as required by courses, syllabi and lesson plans. * Evaluation of curriculum, periodic review of x-rays, records, etc. * The Supervising Dentist will agree to be responsible for and in control of the quality, radiation safety and technical aspects of all examinations and procedures. * This position will require at least 2 nights of work during the radiology module for patient screening and sign off. * Provide non-invasive chair-side dental services at the college for student patients for the purpose of teaching and allowing the students hands-on, chair-side practice with a dentist. * Assess current Dental Assistant courses content (10 modules) for currency, depth and breadth relative to current standards of the state. * Participate in an annual Program Advisory Committee meeting. * Other duties as assigned.
