Our Team:
The Department of Anesthesiology at Denver Health includes 20 attending physicians and 42 CRNAs who deliver high-quality perioperative care across one of the nation's top safety-net systems. Our team supports a wide range of surgical services, including trauma, general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, and multiple subspecialties, offering anesthesiologists broad exposure to high-acuity and diverse clinical cases.
Denver Health provides 24/7 in-house anesthesiology coverage through a collaborative anesthesia care team model. This academic role includes a combination of independent clinical practice as well as teaching and supervising anesthesiology residents and medical students. Clinical expectations are 40 hours per week of anesthesiology staffing services.

Position Overview:
The Helpline Operator plays a critical role in the Massachusetts Overdose Prevention Helpline as the frontline point of contact with our callers. They will be responsible for managing incoming calls and talking with callers using a harm reduction framework. POSITION SUMMARY

Acts as subject matter expert regarding experimental and newly developed procedure and diagnostic coding.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides guidance on coding and billing, utilizing coding and billing guidelines. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of clinical documentation and its impact on reimbursement under Medicare Severity Adjusted System (MS-DRG),All Payer Group (APR-DRG) and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) or utilized operational systems. Provides explanatory and reference information to internal and external customers regarding coding assignment based on clinical documentation which may require researching authoritative reference information from a variety of sources.
2. Reviews medical records. Performs an audit of clinical documentation to ensure that clinical coding is accurate for proper reimbursement and that coding compliance is complete. Provides feedback on coding work and trends, and offers suggestions for improvement where opportunities are identified. Reviews accuracy of identified data elements for use in creating data bases or reporting to the state health department. If applicable, applies Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) definitions to select the principal diagnosis, principal procedure, complications and co morbid condition, other diagnoses, and significant procedures which require coding. Apply policies and procedures on health documentation and coding that are consistent with official coding guidelines.
3. Assists with maintaining system wide consistency in coding practices and ethical coding compliance. If applicable, initiates and follows through on physician queries to ensure that code assignment accurately reflects the patient's condition, treatment and outcomes. Identifies training needs for coding staff. Serves as a team member for internal coding accuracy audits and documents findings.
4. Acts as a knowledge resource to ancillary clinical departments, patient financial services and revenue integrity analysts regarding charge related issues, processes and programming. Participates in company-wide quality teams' initiatives to improve coding and clinical documentation. Assists with education and training of staff involved in learning coding. Assists in creating a department-wide focus of performance improvement and quality management. Assists and participates with management through committees to properly educate physicians, nursing, coders, CDM's, etc. with proper and accurate coding based on documentation for positive outcomes.
5. Performs ongoing audits/review of inpatient and/or outpatient medical records to assure the use of proper diagnostic and procedure code assignments. Collaborates on DRG and coding denials, billing edits/rejections to provide coding expertise to resolve issues and support appropriate reimbursement. Proficiency in claims software to address coding edits and claim denials utilizing multiple platforms and internal tracking tools. Provides findings for use as a basis for development of coding education and audit plans.
6. Maintains a current knowledge in all coding regulatory updates, and in all software used for coding, coding reviews and health information management for the operational group. Identifies and collects data to allow for monitoring and evaluation of trends in DRG (MS/APR-DRG), APC, HCC, other Heath Risk Adjusted Factors, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) and the effect on Case Mix Index by use of specialized software.
7. May code inpatient and outpatient records as needed. Works as a member of the overall HIMS team to achieve goals in days-to-bill.
8. Works independently under limited supervision. Uses an expert level of knowledge to provide coding and billing guidance and oversight for all Banner facilities and services they provide. Internal customers include but are not limited to medical staff, employees, and management at the local, regional, and corporate levels. External customers include but are not limited to, practicing physicians, vendors, and the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a level of education as normally demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or experience equivalent to same.
Demonstrated proficiency in hospital coding as normally obtained through 5 years of current and progressively responsible coding experience required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Perform on-going quality assessments for the Pre-Service Center employees to ensure accurate completion of accounts being held due to EHR system edits and exceptional customer service is delivered with every interaction.
Act as a Tier 1 support resource for the Pre-Service Center representatives for complicated scenarios and if/when compliance issues occur. Intervenes to handle sensitive patient issues or situations when a patient is not satisfied with a team member's response to a particular problem. Escalates problems to Pre-Service Center Manager when appropriate.
Analyzes and monitors key performance metrics to effectively identify key trends, implement corrective actions and effectively communicating outcomes to senior management.
Monitors the accuracy and build of Epic workflows and partners with Epic IT to implement system workflow changes.
Develops and maintains process workflows, presentations or other educational material on correct patient registration and customer service processes.
Leverages functionality of revenue cycle EPIC application to increase accuracy of the registration process, reduce denial rates and increase cash collections, through implementation of rules and edits.
Uses data and reports to perform root cause analysis to identify areas of opportunities and recommend solutions to drive process improvement on the front end revenue cycle and collaborate with other revenue cycle teams to ensure successful implementation.
Monitors daily performance including team member coaching, quality, speed, accuracy and customer service (both internal and external).
Collaborates with cross-functional teams across Operations, Reimbursement, Compliance and Revenue Cycle to drive Patient Registration priorities.
Participates as a team member on cross-functional project teams in support of moderate projects related to existing and new revenue initiatives to increase reimbursement and provides support for projects in which Revenue Cycle leadership and key stakeholders are involved. Effectively communicate issues and results via multiple media including in-person meetings, workgroups, verbal communication, email and presentations.
Track Epic workqueue data metrics, and associated issues. Executes workflow processes to correctly identify deficiencies. Formally prepares and presents findings in an efficient and effective format to Pre-Service manager with recommendations on corrective actions.
Helps to develop and mentor Pre-Service Center Representatives to ensure optimal performance and service delivery excellence.
Personally provides staffing coverage when needed, effectively performing the duties and responsibilities of the position(s) he/she oversees.
Serves as a patient registration subject matter expert to internal and external team members.
Assists department leadership with administering corrective action to employees when necessary.
Assists with the recruitment of team members by interviewing candidates and providing feedback to departmental leadership.
Provides training and orientation to new team members.
Contributes to colleague annual performance appraisals and competency assessments with measurable data and/or specific examples of performance.

Banner Alzheimer's Institute (BAI) and the All of Us Research Program is proud to offer research studies to patients and people in the community. Everyone should be represented in research, and we are now enrolling pediatric participants.
As a Clinical Research Assistant, you will spend most of the day talking to patients about the research study and enrolling those that are interested into the research study (focused on Pediatric enrollments). Each morning, the **Clinical Research Assistant (CRA)** will review a Cerner list of patients in the hospital to identify those that are appropriate (not too sick) to approach. The CRA will talk to the patient's nurse to confirm that the patient is stable to talk with. The CRA then enters each patient's room to talk to the parents/guardians about All of Us (they give an elevator pitch). If they say yes, then the CRA completes the enrollment process. Enrollment is helping a patient create an account and consent on an iPad, complete physical measurements, draw blood, and process the specimen. Usually, an CRA has to approach about 10 patients to get one person to say yes. Other responsibilities include data quality control, outreach events, and retention of enrolled participants.
**Work will be onsite/in-person.** The main enrollment location is at NCMC plus community outreach at events, libraries, etc. The ability to travel locally is required. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel outside of the "home" location.
**This position is based out of North Colorado Medical Center. Typical schedule is M-F; 8:30am to 4:30pm.** There is some flexibility if needed; an 8-hour shift between 7:30am to 5:30pm can be accommodated; some events may take place in the evening or on weekends. Training will need to occur between 8:30am to 4:30pm.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing primary support to both investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical research studies and projects by assisting with data collection, documentation, intake/registration, maintenance of source documents, participant recruitment and retention, data entry into research systems, data audits, maintain research supply inventory, and performs administrative tasks and clinical assessments as assigned.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assists in establishing the clinical trial record including creation, preparation, and maintenance of study specific source documents. Performs protocol-required study procedures as delegated and ensures that all data is properly recorded in source using ALCOAC principles. Ensures source data is transcribed into electronic data capture (EDC) systems and that all other data points are transmitted into research data systems per site and protocol guidance.
2. Ensures potential research participant is correctly registered into both clinical and research systems, including adding in demographic and applicable insurance information.
3. Assists in creating and preparing source and shadow charts for each research participant and ensures all participant documents are completed in a timely manner and are filed in each binder such as pertinent medical records, participant source documents, pharmacy orders, infusion orders, and imaging documents.
4. Understands the basic requirements of the informed consent process and required documentation. Knowledgeable on the information contained within the consent document in order to answer participant questions, provide high level overview of study procedures and associated time. Performs consent audit to ensure related documentation is properly completed and uploads final signed version to clinical and research systems.
5. Helps to recruit potential participants by answering recruitment phone line, completing telephone or in-person pre-screening, requesting and reviewing medical records, and maintaining recruitment database. Attends and participates in community outreach events and appreciation events as needed.
6. Collect, process, package, and ship all laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and CSF samples, in accordance with the study protocol, laboratory manual, and IATA guidelines. Maintains updated laboratory binder and ensures proper completion of laboratory requisition form. Schedules courier pick up of samples for both central and local laboratories and maintains tracking and dry ice log for all samples.
7. Will have frequent interaction with research participants, families, visitors, clinicians, and other related clinical departments across the Banner institute and Banner campus. May also accompany participants across both approved and affiliated Banner Health off site campuses for visits and procedures including, but not limited to, infusions, imaging, registration, ophthalmology, and dermatology.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Experience typically gained through one to two years clinical research experience. Must have knowledge and understanding of medical terminology in order to read, identify, and extract pertinent data from medical records and information. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.
2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG's. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.
4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.
6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas. Medication ordering and tasks related to all medications (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).
7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts.
8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
9. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices in order to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use. BLS certification required. Job Summary
The Pharmacy Revenue Cycle Coordinator is responsible for collection and reimbursement activities related to the DHHA pharmacy and DHHA Retail Pharmacy. The person in this position will work to coordinate statement billing activities, account flow to external agencies and facilitate billing and reimbursement knowledge between Hospital and Physicians Business Services (HPBS) and both the Hospital and Retail Pharmacies. This position is responsible for the management of the self-pay account activities located in the retail pharmacy service area. assuring that accounts receive statements are flow to the SBO vendor and ultimately to the bad debt vendor. This position knows the revenue cycle well enough to play a role in pharmacy coding, modifier usage and ultimately code placement on the claim. This position will also understand payer behavior enough to be able to estimate reimbursement for particular drugs, especially 340-B drugs and IV therapy.
The position will report to the director of HPBS but will network with pharmacists, chargemaster and coding personnel, vendor management staff and other HPBS staff. The position is self-directed but will be required to meet targets in the Pharmacy Service Area in the Epic physician (PB) billing system.
Essential Functions:
Monitor the workflow for self-pay accounts with balances as they go from billed Accounts Receivable (AR) to Bad Debt (BD). Assuring that balances are accurate as they transition in each stage of the workflow. (25%)
Assure that AR moving from the pharmacy insurance billing system to Epic is reconciled and insurance takebacks are resolved, and the AR is billed to the patient. (15%)
Understands pharmaceutical reimbursement for the major payers, Medicaid, Medicare, Aetna, Anthem, United Healthcare, and Cigna. Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical teaching and leadership for other staff members. Is actively involved in quality improvement, data monitoring, supervising psychology trainees, and research/educational activities. The Correctional Care staff provides care at either Downtown Detention Center or the Denver County Jail. These environments of care have a higher level of clinical acuity and environmental hazard than inpatient and ambulatory settings based on the nature of the facility. The detention centers employ a high level of security, which impacts daily working conditions, including both personal and institutional safety and operations. Environmental awareness, critical thinking, and decisive, decision-making skills are required in the correctional care setting.
Essential Functions:
Diagnoses, evaluates, and treats emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders and/or psychological problems resulting from a physical dysfunction, illness, disease, or disability. (10%)
Conducts, administers, and interprets tests assessing intellectual abilities, personality characteristics, cognitive skills, psychopathology, and neuropsychological characteristics and writes up appropriate reports as appropriate. (10%)
Conducts intakes, admissions, and discharges of patients, and manages the patient care. (10%)
Exercises legal, clinical and professional responsibilities as requires under applicable state laws, such as: involuntary holds, certifications, and release actions. (10%)
Utilizes clinical interviewing, medical record and history review, and other psychological techniques to assess patient needs. Prepares, updates, and maintains medical records, progress notes, reports, and summaries. (10%)
Participates in teaching psychology and other integrated care trainees. (10%)
Performs clinical supervision. This may entail work with staff, master's and doctoral-level interns, psychologist candidates for licensure/postdoctoral fellows, Residents, nursing students, and/or other professional level trainees. (10%)
Consults and/or collaborates with other professionals, family members, and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate the diagnosis, management, intervention, or treatment of patients. (10%)
Conducts treatment planning, rounds, and ward management, as required by area of responsibility. Conducts, utilizes, and /or participates in quality assurance and utilization review activities. (5%)
Conducts research projects, other scholarly activities, grant preparation, and fund administration, as available/required by area of responsibility. Prepares and submits scholarly articles for professional publication as available/required by area of responsibility. (5%)
Plans, organizes, conducts and/or participates in educational seminars, case conferences, professional workshops, community education, team building seminars and workshops related to the field of psychology and mental health (5%)
Assists in developing departmental budgets, as needed. (5%)
Education:
Doctorate Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years 4000 hours supervised clinical service, including completion of doctoral internship and one year of postdoctoral experience Required and
1-3 years 2000 hours providing behavioral health services in a related setting Required and
1-3 years Forensic psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship and competency evaluation experience (for positions with competency evaluation job responsibilities
Licenses:
PSY-Licensed Psychologist - State Board of Psychologist Examiners Required and

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge and skills in effective psychological practice in primary care medical settings.
Is able to provide psychodiagnostic assessment, intervention and patient education for patients commonly seen in the correctional care setting.
Possesses skills needed to participate effectively in a leadership role with the multidisciplinary team and to provide teaching to other members of the behavioral health team and trainees.
Can participate as a faculty member with the psychology internship and training program.
Possesses advanced written and oral communication skills.
