    Department manager job in Barranquitas, PR

    Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring the efficient assignment of tasks, compliance with quality and safety standards, and the productivity of the technical team. Ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out in accordance with the procedures established by the brand and the company, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational performance. Responsibilities: • Directly supervises the workshop technical staff, coordinating and assigning daily tasks according to each technician's skills and availability. • Plans and organizes the following day's work orders, controlling times, procedures, and compliance with quality standards. • Monitors repair progress, audits work before billing, and performs test drives when necessary. • Manages inventory, maintenance, and storage of tools, equipment, and spare parts. • Ensures compliance with occupational safety regulations and promotes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of the 5S methodology. • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and standardization of the workshop area. • Provides mentorship, coaching, and technical support to staff, promoting their professional and technical development. • Coordinates and follows up on training required by the distributor, ensuring certification compliance. • Evaluates workshop productivity, efficiency, and quality, reporting to the Service Management. • Ensures compliance with warranty processes, technical bulletins, and required reports. • Participates in planning and continuous improvement meetings, providing recommendations on operations and best practices. • Maintains effective communication with clients and internal staff, fostering team cohesion through periodic meetings. • Reports directly to the Service Manager or Parts and Service Director. Requirements: • Technical Institute or Associate Degree in Automotive Mechanics (accredited) • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position • Experience and ability in leadership and management of technical staff • Strong communication and negotiation skills • Ability to plan, organize, and control operational processes • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills • Deep knowledge of automotive mechanics, diagnostics, and warranty processes • Knowledge in the proper use of tools and equipment, including specialized automotive tools • Basic knowledge in handling hazardous materials • Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and environmental regulations • Knowledge of Nissan, Kia, or Mitsubishi vehicles [preferred] • Basic reading and writing skills to understand repair orders and document work performed or required • Intermediate proficiency in workshop management systems and automotive software • Goal-oriented, results-driven, and focused on continuous improvement • Values: Integrity, commitment, and respect Licenses, Certifications, and Training: • Valid Automotive Technician or Automotive Mechanics License • Active Driver's License, required Kind of position: Full time, Indefinite contract Benefits: Professional development training.
