Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direction of the Facilities Manager or the Building Services Manager where appropriate.
Essential Job Functions:
Custodial
-Performs daily custodial work including cleaning floors, showers, bathrooms, offices, hallways,
fixtures, equipment, and all other stationary surfaces within the building. Snow removal as
required.
Maintenance
-Performs daily maintenance work including carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical
work, and cleaning. Performs semi-skilled preventative maintenance for the building and
equipment. Assists in maintaining the records that detail preventive maintenance activities.
Emergency Maintenance
-Performs emergency maintenance and assistance for projects outside normal work hours and is
available to work special events.
Other duties as assigned.

Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30
days of start date.
NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge, and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.
Preferred Candidate: Experience in various repair and maintenance tasks involving carpentry, roofing, painting, plumbing, heating systems, routine electrical work, landscaping upkeep and custodial work

Job Summary
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for the position of MaintenanceWorker. The maintenanceworker, under the oversight of the designated supervisor, executes custodial and/or maintenance assistance tasks for the County. This position includes conducting inspections; performing general maintenance activities both indoors and outdoors; delivering program equipment; cleaning delivery vehicles; transporting vehicles for repairs; assisting skilled or semi-skilled technicians; cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, and mopping floors; arranging tables and chairs; and removing trash. This role does not entail any supervisory duties. This role involves providing basic maintenance support and/or performing custodial tasks.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Undertakes maintenance and/or custodial services applicable to indoor or outdoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential Duties
Inspects, maintains, repairs, and modifies City-owned and leased buildings, building systems and major components and grounds. Performs a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks such as basic electrical, HVAC and plumbing repairs, drywall, plastering, interior and exterior painting, flooring installation, roof repairs, cement and masonry work, installation of locks and door entry systems, circulation pumps and landscape and irrigation.
Monitors and evaluates energy performance and consumption using an Energy Management System to maximize energy reduction, and balance interior environmental conditions.
Monitors, inspects and works with contractors, licensed electricians, plumbers and HVAC technicians to repair and maintain building systems including HVAC systems, elevators, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, security systems, overhead fire doors, and fire suppression clean agent systems.
Maintains commercial kitchen equipment ensuring equipment meets the Oregon Health Department sanitation regulations.
Tests electrical equipment, electric motors, alarm batteries, lighting, and lighting components per established schedules if assigned primary responsibility of electrical maintenance.
Coordinates office moves, moves furniture, and sets up and takes down special furniture arrangements for meeting rooms.
Inspects and tracks maintenance and repairs to emergency generators ensuring systems are operational for computer rooms and staff operations.
Performs ADA, seismic, and building safety checks to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
Uses resources including the internet to research materials, maintenance repair upgrades, and order parts and supplies. Uses a computer to receive and respond to emails, schedule work, and report issues.
Assists in the development and implementation of the preventative, corrective, and major maintenance programs and maintenance schedules.
Responds to emergency calls, including after hours response within required timeframe.Position may involve working overtime and on weekends as needed.
Maintains job-site safety for co-workers and the general public including traffic control and minimization of hazardous conditions.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years journeyman level work experience or training (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general construction) in the building construction, maintenance, or repair field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Training and/or working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and/or other building systems.
Broad knowledge of construction techniques. Ability to read and understand construction documents and plans.
Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations, including confined space, fall protection, ladder safety, hazard identification lockout/tagout, and hazard communication.
Knowledge of Oregon Health Department sanitation regulations as they relate to equipment use and safety.

Examination Information: The examination will consist of a training and experience form designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position. The training and experience form will be given to candidates once their application has been received, reviewed by a recruiter, and accepted to test for the position. The form must be completed and returned to the Human Resources Department by December 22, 2025 (passing score 60%). Final eligibility list will be the training and experience form weighted 100%.
Veteran Points: To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months. This information must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by December 22, 2025.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of the operating principles of gasoline, diesel, and battery powered engines and of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic repair methods applicable to engines and related equipment.
* Knowledge of, and ability to operate, a computers and other technology using standard or customized computer or systems software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.
* Knowledge of the operation and servicing requirements of light, heavy truck, forestry, golf turf, construction, and fire apparatus equipment.
* Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and requirements of mechanical maintenance and repair.
* Knowledge of the operating principles and mechanics of internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric vehicles.
* Knowledge of medium and heavy trucks, construction, fire apparatus and automotive equipment; pneumatic/hydraulic systems, impeller and vacuum pumps.
* Skill in the care and proper use of journeyman-level tools and related mechanical equipment used in the automotive/diesel mechanical trade.
* Skill in locating and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical defects in the automotive, medium/heavy truck, forestry, golf turf, construction, fire apparatus and mechanical equipment
* Skill in effective time management.
* Ability to learn and adapt to advances in computer and electronics device technology and software.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, and members of the general public.
* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Essential Functions:

Detailed responsibilities:
* Overhauls and repairs gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions and drivetrains, heating and cooling systems, clutches, air brakes systems, differentials, exhaust systems, ignition systems, fuel systems and a variety of small engine driven equipment.
* Operates a variety of automotive and test equipment and performs required testing and inspections in accordance with regulations and standards.
* Repairs and maintains hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines; checks system leaks.
* Repairs or replaces worn hoses, belts, gauges, valves, and other accessories.
* Inspects and diagnoses tire problems including repairing, mounting and balancing tires following industry standards for safety and quality.
* Performs minor welding and body repairs, including installing or replacing decals, and routine welding in conjunction with regular heavy equipment mechanical work.
* Fabricates parts when replacement parts are unavailable.
* Performs road calls and emergency start to vehicles, providing maintenance and minor repairs in the field.
* Drives and operates the tow-truck in recovering disabled vehicles or equipment in the field.
* Determines and performs scheduled and preventive maintenance and repairs of on various gasoline and diesel automotive, heavy truck, forestry and golf turf equipment, construction and fire apparatus vehicles for a variety of functional areas including tires, brakes, climate control, belts, hoses, suspension, steering and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
* Reviews and determines required repair and maintenance needs creating works orders outlining information for repair work and maintains works orders in maintenance management systems.
* Updates and maintains maintenance systems, prepares logs, reports, work and supply orders using computerized management systems as required, and maintains inventory systems for related parts and equipment.
* Monitors, troubleshoots, diagnoses and provides required repairs, including for minor electrical and engines.
* Researches and locates specialized parts, tools and equipment and provides estimates of resources required including time and parts costs.
* Assists with field maintenance and repairs as required.
* Operates a variety of automotive, medium and heavy truck, fire apparatus and test equipment and performs required testing and inspections in accordance with regulations and standards.
* Assists other technicians in performing complex diagnostics or advanced repairs.
* Maintains organization, safety and cleanliness of the work area and related equipment and tools.
* Maintains regular job attendance in accordance with a schedule established for the position by the supervisor.
* Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
