DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Administration ManagementTrainee, you will complete a structured, 12-month training program where you will develop an understanding of commonwealth hiring processes and procedures for both Civil Service and Non-Civil Service positions. Throughout the program you will learn the fundamentals of commonwealth hiring processes and procedures; learn the best methods for posting and advertising positions for achieving optimal candidates for consideration; perform background checks for selected candidates which may include various clearances; as well as review and propose salary information. You will have the opportunity to work closely with higher-level human resource professionals to grow your knowledge base and expand your skills to prepare you for promotion to higher-level human resource positions. Upon successful completion of this training program, you will be promoted to a permanent Human Resource Analyst.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position serves as a part-time/as-needed Residential Program Trainee in the Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Program. The CRRS is a residential setting in the community for consumers with chronic psychiatric disabilities. This position assists in developing individual service plans in a residential setting. Participate in the planning and implementation of educational and recreational activities in accordance with the individual's plan. Assist individuals to learn self-care skills through teaching and role-modeling skills based on their individual needs, which may include personal hygiene, nutrition, daily living skills, and safety practices. Assist individuals in developing skills towards living independently in the community, such as problem-solving, effective listening, conversational skills, interpersonal skills, good manners, and outcome action planning.
Recreational and in-home activities may include exercising, socialization activities, organized team-building activities, etc. This position provides direct care by assisting individuals with nutrition, cooking, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene skills. Assist residents in community services, family interactions, telephone use, generic services, and public transportation. Assist and instruct residents with medication and money management. Participate in medication trainings and updates. May educate/assist individuals with scheduling medical appointments. Participates in gathering data for assessment of individuals' strengths and needs and provides feedback to the CRRS service team. Participates in the intra-disciplinary team meetings to report on residents' progress in meeting services goals and objectives. Fostering Future Financial Leaders
As the demand for transparency and accountability in government spending and allocation increases, so does the need for accounting professionals with specialized expertise in governmental financial management. The 1649 Accountant Trainee Program, also known as the 1649 Accountant Intern Program, was established to ensure excellence in the City and County of San Francisco's Accountant Series. This program provides trainees with a strong foundation in governmental accounting policies, procedures, and best practices through a blend of workshop training and hands-on experience.
Trainees receive mentorship from experienced accountants and cover essential topics like Peoplesoft Financials, General Ledger, Budget Process, Purchasing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Analysis and Reporting, and Vouchers and Expenses. In addition to technical knowledge, the program enhances communication and presentation skills through workshops and professional development opportunities, including sessions with the Treasurer/Tax Collector, Civil Service Commission, and Office of Public Finance.
Participants are paired with seasoned supervisors and mentors for support and coaching throughout their training, with progress evaluated through regular performance reviews. The 18-month program includes two 9-month rotations in different City departments, preparing trainees for professional-level accounting positions. By the end of the program, participants will have expanded their formal education, gained hands-on experience, developed strong analytical and communication skills, and become proficient with technology and financial information systems.
Upon completing the 18-month program, successful trainees are promoted to the Permanent Civil Service 1652 Accountant II classification. Assignment locations may vary for each rotation and for the 1652 Accountant II placements.

* Record and process a variety of accounting data into accounting systems;
* Analyze transactions to insure proper recordation;
* Prepare and maintain expenditures and budgetary control accounts;
* Prepare reports on status of such accounts;
* Maintain accounting records relative to payroll accounts, processes rate changes and payroll deductions;
* Distribute personnel service costs to appropriate accounts;
* Assist in the maintenance of accounting systems;
* Reconcile internal departmental records with Controller's and other agency reports;
* Process and clear encumbrance documents and vendor payment documents, assists in external reporting projects/requirements as assigned.
* The incumbent must be able to communicate all phases of the Accounting Cycle to a variety of audiences clearly and effectively, and they will also perform related duties as assigned.
* Overtime may be required.
* Make formal presentations to City departments and the Steering Committee.

How to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND eighteen (18) semester units or twenty-four (24) quarter units of coursework in Accounting.
* Only classes that are 3 units or more will be counted towards coursework requirement. One to two-unit accounting electives will NOT be considered qualifying coursework, and neither will adjacent coursework (e.g. finance, economics, math, QuickBooks/Excel courses).

* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in various computer software programs, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Performance Exercise: Qualified candidates who receive a passing score in the written examination may be invited for Performance Exercise. This position serves as a part-time/as-needed Residential Program Trainee in the Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Program. The CRRS is a residential setting in the community for consumers with chronic psychiatric disabilities. This position assists in developing individual service plans in a residential setting. Participate in the planning and implementation of educational and recreational activities in accordance with the individual's plan. Assist individuals to learn self-care skills through teaching and role-modeling skills based on their individual needs, which may include personal hygiene, nutrition, daily living skills, and safety practices. Assist individuals in developing skills towards living independently in the community, such as problem-solving, effective listening, conversational skills, interpersonal skills, good manners, and outcome action planning.
Recreational and in-home activities may include exercising, socialization activities, organized team-building activities, etc. This position provides direct care by assisting individuals with nutrition, cooking, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene skills. Assist residents in community services, family interactions, telephone use, generic services, and public transportation. Assist and instruct residents with medication and money management. Participate in medication trainings and updates. May educate/assist individuals with scheduling medical appointments. Participates in gathering data for assessment of individuals' strengths and needs and provides feedback to the CRRS service team. Participates in the intra-disciplinary team meetings to report on residents' progress in meeting services goals and objectives. Maintain CRRS files and assist with monthly reports as directed by the program supervisor. Complete required individual program plans, assessments, progress records, and medication documentation. Job Duties
What You'll Do:
Learn to be a tree doctor! Introduce career orientated students to exceptional opportunities in the industry including tree care, tree climbing, chainsaw use, plant health care and customer service. Internships in each division may vary in length depending on availability. Interns will be assigned a manager who will mentor them through a variety of job experiences within the industry. Throughout your experience, you will work on residential and commercial properties and in an office setting.
HOURS:
40-50 hours per week; Monday - Friday with some Saturdays
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline

Knowledge of: Computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and statistics; correct English usage, vocabulary, spelling and arithmetic. InDesign experience is a plus.

POSITION INFORMATION:
* Internships run for 3 calendar months generally between May and August 2026.
* The workday is 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday equaling 37.5 hours per week.
* Interns will be working outside in remote wooded areas in all weather conditions and will be exposed to insects, forest plants, and animals.
* Please note housing will not be provided during the internship period.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
The ability to navigate and work independently on forested lands.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
* Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of Forestry/Natural Resources or related studies by May 2026 in a forestry program accredited or recognized by the Society of American Foresters.
