    Adopt-A-Trailhead Montana (AATM) and Pull-Your-Share (PYS) are cooperative volunteer programs that help protect Montana's trails from the spread of noxious weeds. Noxious weeds at trailheads will lead to infested backcountry, city parks, and recreation areas which threatens Montana's tourism economy, wildlife habitat, and native plant communities. These programs aim to stop and control noxious weeds at the trailhead, educate the public about noxious weeds and provide ways they can act against spreading noxious weeds when recreating. AATM started in 2015, and since then there have been 74 kiosks installed with around 42 of those trailheads adopted. Volunteer groups work with state, city or federal agencies to adopt a trailhead or park and are responsible for hosting at least one weed pull per year. PYS was created by a Great Falls teacher and involves both classroom instruction and a field trip where teachers and students pull weeds at a site and learn about natural resource careers. This service member will maintain all current kiosks, recruit volunteer groups for new or existing trailheads without adoptees, conduct kiosk installs, run volunteer days at weed pull events, conduct classroom instruction, host school field trips, maintain social media and outreach for the program, work with other agencies and NGOs to strengthen the program, and assists other noxious weed programs at the department as needed. This position will be in the field and on the road about 40% of the time. The remaining 60% will be conducted in a typical office environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is a beginner social casework position providing a wide range of services in child welfare. Employees in this class provide casework services to abused and/or neglected children and youth and their families which include dependent children, adolescents, adults, and families to help them attain a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment. An important aspect of this work is utilizing casework skills in obtaining essential information and in aiding families to utilize all available resources. As a Child Protective Services (CPS) Family Safety Practitioner, you will engage with parents and their children who are at risk of or victims of abuse or neglect and strengthen families so they can safely care for their children. Duties of the CPS Family Safety Practitioner: In this job, you will be supported by a team of caring people working together to keep children safe and strengthen families. You will make an impact by: Assessing allegations of child abuse and neglect, which includes interviewing children, parents, and other involved parties, often in their homes or community spaces Using our practice model to comprehensively assess children and their families, including assessments of protective, risk, and safety factors Taking appropriate actions based on informed decisions and relevant policy to keep children safe and support families. This may include creating and monitoring safety plans, connecting families with services, providing brief clinical interventions to address immediate concerns, de-escalating tense situations, supporting families' decisions for alternate living arrangements, or separating children and placing them in foster care. This includes preparing and filing court paperwork and attending and testifying in court hearings. Documenting interactions and observations related to assessments and decision-making in a timely manner.
