The Lawton VA Clinic and the Department of Dermatology, Oklahoma University (OU) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma are actively recruiting a Board-Certified Staff Physician in Dermatology (BE considered) to help care for our Veterans. The Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (OKVAHCS) is a Joint Commission accredited and high complexity facility serving more than 170,000 Veterans in Oklahoma.
Selected candidate will report to the Chief, Section of Dermatology and will supervise advanced practice providers who are assigned to the Section. Duties will include day-to-day care of Veteran patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Primary duties include assessing, consulting, and treating patients with dermatological diseases who present at the facility. The physician must have expertise and experience with dermatological procedures. Some common dermatologic procedures used to test for diseases are biopsies, including punch, shave, and excision biopsy; microbiological culture (often called a skin culture); skin allergy patch testing, and Wood's lamp examination. Other dermatologic procedures are used to remove or treat benign or cancerous skin lesions. Cryotherapy, curettage, excision, electrodesiccation, phototherapy, and skin tag removal. The physician will participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) to improve access to dermatology care as well as increased use of Specialty Care Access Network-Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (SCAN-ECHO) to foster education & improve care. The physician will work collaboratively with primary care, surgery, and other medical specialties. Participation in scholarly and educational activities as a faculty member will be strongly supported.
Work Schedule
Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30, plus on call duties as needed. As inpatients are on the hospitalist service, call duties are relatively light. May be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 full-time Physician.
U.S. Citizens receive preference. Non-U.S. Citizens are encouraged to apply.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Board Certified in Dermatology, but Board Eligibility may also be considered.
Benefits Information
The starting pay is $250,000 - $400,000 per year.
A recruitment incentive will be offered, and there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.

This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The Physician HTPN supervises the clinical activities of allied health and advanced practice professionals.
Essential Functions of the Role
Examine, collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
Order, perform, and interpret tests and examine records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' condition.
Work with a clinical team of technicians, advanced practice professionals, and physicians. Make judgments about tests, diagnoses, and treatment options for patients.
Monitor patient conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
Diagnoses and treats conditions in area of specialty.
May work in hospital, specialty clinic or outpatient surgical center.
May perform surgical procedures, treatment or non-invasive procedures in area of specialty.
May create post-operative care plans, recommend lifestyle changes involving diet, exercise and other matters.
Supervise the clinical activities of a care team that may consist of other providers, and allied health professionals.
