The Office of County Counsel is recruiting for Deputy County Counsel II/III/IV to provide legal services to the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator. Legal services to the Sheriff's Department involves advising on various areas including employment, wage and hour under the FLSA, disciplinary matters and appeals pursuant to the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act, grievance arbitration, labor and unfair practice charges, transactional, procurement, contracts, and other duties as assigned to support the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator. The resulting eligibility list may be used to fill additional vacancies in County Counsel's Office as they may occur in a variety of civil law areas and assignments which may include: employment; administrative law proceedings; civil rights; eminent domain; public entity liability; environmental/land use; workers compensation; taxation; juvenile, guardianship and conservatorship; appeals; arbitration/mediation; contract; business; transactional; procurement; technology; torts; personal injury; real estate and construction law. INITIAL APPOINTMENT Your application will be reviewed for eligibility for all levels within the Deputy County Counsel Series. Job offers for the initial appointment may be made at any level based on qualifications and department needs. SALARY AND BENEFITS This position offers full benefits and a competitive salary range of $110,260.80 - $219,024.00 Annually DOQ 3% Annual Across the Board Salary Increases in February 2026 (Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.) Deputy County Counsel II: Twelve (12) months of full-time civil or criminal law work experience as an attorney. Note: (Law Clerk, Intern and Volunteer Attorney experience is not qualifying).     CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Deputy Clerk Supervisor classification is to manage activities and workflow of assigned staff. JOB DUTIES: Provides direct supervision to work unit to coordinate activities, provide work direction, oversee training of staff, and to maintain routine, procedural matters. Interprets and reviews work product of unit for accuracy. Provides feedback and makes corrections and adjustments, as necessary. Monitors and provides informational assistance to internal and external customers and stakeholders in-person, on the phone, or electronically. Performs various clerical and administrative duties including but not limited to proofreading, sorting, filing, answering phone and e-mail inquiries, updating records, verifying information, copying, and printing. Compiles, interprets, and distributes data, logs, and information related to the business, as directed. Position handles legal and non-legal documents that may require notarization, issuance, retention, or disposal in accordance with the proper procedure. Designs and implements work procedures, reports unit status and progress to management and coordinates work with agencies served to ensure customer satisfaction. Position may serve as a cashier and validate money from payment of fees as required for various transactions. Meets cash balancing standards, if applicable. Uses various electronic systems or those otherwise defined in division procedures. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
