Derby Lane company history timeline
Derby Lane Greyhound Track was established in 1925 and is said to be one of the world's premier greyhound racetracks today.
Derby Lane's concrete and steel grandstand replaced the original wooden structure in 1949, and 16 years later, fine dining was introduced in a six-story enclosed clubhouse.
In 1977 a veranda clubhouse gave way to an additional enclosed grandstand.
Greyhound Hall of Famer, Keefer, drew the largest crowd on track (12,779) for his victory in the 1986 Distance Classic.
In 2000, Dominator lived up to his name and brought in the new millennium with a new award.
Award winning director Steven Soderbergh unleashed a trifecta of Hollywood celebrities at Derby Lane in 2001 to film scenes for his blockbuster movie, Ocean’s Eleven.
