Founded in 1948, Desert Regional Medical Center has a long history of providing excellence in medical care.
In 1952, after the property was declared army surplus, it was sold to a group of investors who restored the structure under the guidance of Los Angeles architect Paul R. Williams and re-opened it as, once again, a hotel.
In 1982, the original El Mirador Hotel and Tower were listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 2017, Desert Regional Medical Center joined with Hi-Desert Medical Center and JFK Memorial Hospital.
