Position Summary
As a Mechanical DesignEngineer, you will serve as a lead contributor on project teams designing, building, and deploying custom automated equipment. You will collaborate closely with Applications, Controls, and Build teams to deliver unique automation solutions across a wide range of industries and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design custom automation equipment and integrated systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical products
Develop complete machine layouts through detailed component design
Work with vendors to properly size and specify purchased components
Generate Bills of Material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings
Lead and support shop assemblers to ensure designs are built to specification
Test and debug equipment on the shop floor and at customer facilities
Work overtime as needed to meet customer deadlines
Travel locally and overnight to customer sites as required

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

What You'll Do:
Order Review and Design Accuracy
Review new orders, comparing specifications to proposals, and resolve discrepancies with the sales team.
Conduct thorough checks for errors or omissions to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Component Selection and Design
Select appropriate components from manufacturer catalogs and generate purchase requisitions.
Prepare arrangement and layout drawings, verifying completeness and correctness before customer approval.
Customer and Vendor Collaboration
Interface with customers to address design-related queries and obtain approvals.
Communicate with vendors to answer questions and resolve issues with purchased items.
Detail Drawing and Oversight
Check detail drawings prepared by junior designers for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare detail drawings as needed to ensure project timelines are met.
On-Site Verification and Problem-Solving
Visit customer facilities to review projects, verify dimensions, and inspect equipment.
Collaborate with shop personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges.
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
Education: A 2-year technical school degree in Mechanical Design/Engineering is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in heavy equipment or related industries.
Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Strong knowledge of structural and mechanical design principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Your Impact
As a Hardware DesignEngineer, you'll lead the design and development of next-generation 100G/200G/400G photonics ICs. From architecture to lab validation, you'll shape product direction, mentor engineers, and ensure Cisco stays at the forefront of optical networking innovation. Specific responsibilities include:
Drive architecture, design, and verification of high-speed mixed-signal and photonics circuits.
Define and document chip-level specifications and verification plans.
Collaborate across optical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Lead lab validation, debug, and yield improvement activities.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors + 7 years of related experience, or Masters + 4 years of related experience, or PhD + 1 year of related experience, or

Experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design for high-speed system.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
