* Identifies engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineeringdesign and coaches safe practices in the field.
* Supports/Leads cross-functional team consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors and Technical Consultants from development of EPC contract through Permitting, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Closeout.
* Ensures documentation of engineering and construction quality is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.
* Supports/Leads Owner team in writing official Records of Decision to capture prudency of major project decisions.
* Acts as Contract Manager for various engineering and construction contracts outside of the EPC, including Owner's Engineer.
* Performs/Manages the review of engineeringdesign to assure compliance with the contract, permits, codes, and utility standards while ensuring design supports the strategic, operational and maintenance goals of the project.
* Coordinates with the Project Manager in following the Project Delivery System and ensuring requirements are met and producing associated deliverables.
* Participates in contractor/vendor selection process with a specific goal of assessing engineering experience, competencies and capability.
* Supports/Leads technical open book engineering process with contractors during development of major projects and applies value engineering concepts to ensure projects are competitive.
* Assists Contractor and Vendors during design and construction to resolve technical queries, and interfaces.
* Assures that all firms solicited to provide engineering services are duly licensed in the state of the project.
* Assures Project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.Ensures all documents generated on the project are stored in designated repository at closeout.
* Supports/Leads/Follows change management process for any potential design changes.Participates in the equipment inspection activities as agreed with the Contractor.Supports/Leads Owner review and signoff of System Turnover packages from Construction to Start-up and from EPC to Owner.
* Supports commissioning and ensures performance, reliability and emissions testing are completed per contract
Qualifications
Minimum education required of the position:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position:
* Project Engineer Sr Staff: 10+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience, preferably engineeringdesign, construction or operation of power systems.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
* Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 360.
* Strong interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
* Expert knowledge of engineering fundamentals within at least one discipline (civil/mechanical/electrical/controls/chemical/construction)
