Mechanical Design Engineer
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for finding, vetting, designing, and implementing cost reduction ideas into production. Work with various product line specific design engineers to understand function and requirements

Responsibilities What You'll Do
As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a key technical and leadership role in designing transportation infrastructure projects that meet and exceed IDOT standards. You will collaborate closely with agency staff, municipalities, and contractors to develop efficient, safe, and constructible design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of transportation projects-concept, design, and plan preparation-serving as a consultant and trusted partner to IDOT.
Develop and review roadway design plans, drainage and utility relocation designs, construction staging plans, and technical reports aligned with IDOT Bureau of Design and Environment (BDE) requirements.
Provide advanced technical oversight and QA/QC review of roadway geometrics, storm sewer systems, and related infrastructure components.
Coordinate proactively with IDOT personnel, municipal clients, and contractors to address technical issues, ensure design compliance, and maintain project momentum.
Manage scope, schedule, and budgets; anticipate design challenges and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers and designers, fostering skill development and technical excellence.
Support business development efforts by maintaining strong client relationships and assisting with proposals and project pursuits for IDOT and other agencies.
Represent MSA at technical conferences and professional events, promoting the firm's expertise and commitment to quality design.
Qualifications What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Master's degree a plus).
Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Illinois PE required; multi-state licensure a plus).
10+ years of progressive experience in roadway design and transportation engineering, with substantial experience delivering IDOT projects as a consultant.
Demonstrated expertise with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and IDOT-specific standards, documentation, and workflows.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with proven success managing multidisciplinary design teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience interfacing directly with agency staff and external stakeholders.
Solid understanding of project financials, scheduling, and resource management for design projects.

Field Coordination

Update FROGS (CAD), Varasset, and SiteTracker tools as required.

Assist with make-ready work and joint-use coordination for Frontier-owned poles.
Conduct site surveys, support PUC complaint investigations, and create capital projects (e.g., for cell towers or plant repairs).
Address and resolve plant damage requests (DOR/PDR), cable count changes, and other network service needs.
Administrative Support
Maintain records, update engineering files, and process departmental documentation.
Draft and type correspondence, reports, and engineering support documents.
Core Experience:
3-5+ years of hands-on experience in copper and fiber optic network engineering.
Minimum 5 years in network engineering or OSP-related work, including permitting and fiber record management.

Job Description
RFA Engineering (*************** is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Mechanical Design Engineer
Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the concept and development of mechanical components and systems for construction equipment. These designs primarily include large and mid-sized frame structures and sheet metal design.
Responsibilities
Create models and prints utilizing proper model-based definition methods and GD&T
Ability to work with a large number of stakeholders and communicate back and forth regarding project scope, status, and changes
Work with sheet metal suppliers and internal fabrication departments to facilitate parts being in the right place at the right time
Supporting builds and fit ups on the factory floor as needed
Excellent communicator across all levels of the organization
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Agricultural Engineering or related degree
Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience or hobbies
Excellent communication both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to thrive in a team environment
Desired Skills
Creo and windchill proficiency, especially with the sheet metal application (trainable)
Knowledge and application of GD&T standards (trainable)
Familiarity with PDP processes and milestone requirements
Strong communication skills with ability to present and speak in front of groups
Collaboration and flexibility across multiple design disciplines and product lines
Adaptability to accommodate changes in scope and schedule of projects
Familiarity with construction and forestry equipment

Pay Range: $65,000-$85,000 - Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities What You'll Do
As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a key technical and leadership role in designing transportation infrastructure projects that meet and exceed IDOT standards. You will collaborate closely with agency staff, municipalities, and contractors to develop efficient, safe, and constructible design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of transportation projects-concept, design, and plan preparation-serving as a consultant and trusted partner to IDOT.
Develop and review roadway design plans, drainage and utility relocation designs, construction staging plans, and technical reports aligned with IDOT Bureau of Design and Environment (BDE) requirements.
Provide advanced technical oversight and QA/QC review of roadway geometrics, storm sewer systems, and related infrastructure components.
Coordinate proactively with IDOT personnel, municipal clients, and contractors to address technical issues, ensure design compliance, and maintain project momentum.
Manage scope, schedule, and budgets; anticipate design challenges and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers and designers, fostering skill development and technical excellence.
Support business development efforts by maintaining strong client relationships and assisting with proposals and project pursuits for IDOT and other agencies.
Represent MSA at technical conferences and professional events, promoting the firm's expertise and commitment to quality design.
Qualifications What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Master's degree a plus).
Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Illinois PE required; multi-state licensure a plus).
10+ years of progressive experience in roadway design and transportation engineering, with substantial experience delivering IDOT projects as a consultant.
Demonstrated expertise with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and IDOT-specific standards, documentation, and workflows.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with proven success managing multidisciplinary design teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience interfacing directly with agency staff and external stakeholders.
Solid understanding of project financials, scheduling, and resource management for design projects.

The salary for this position ranges from $88,871to $142,195 per year commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
