ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer at VMI, Inc. located in Cushing, OK. The Engineer will be responsible for managing projects and tasks related to dredging equipment design and development from conceptualization through project completion as well as revisions and updates to existing products. The engineer will be responsible for creating computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, schematics, technical documentation, and programming. The Engineer will assist with troubleshooting and customer support as needed. The Engineer will also perform other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management.
Design heavy marine related equipment. This includes all aspects of machine design including structural, hydraulic, and electrical.
Update and review current product designs and recommend revisions that minimize costs and enhance product performance.
During the design of new products, review current and past product designs, determine manufacturing methods and recommend modifications to improve manufacturability through fabrication and assembly.
Evaluate costs of new parts and products to establish best suited components.
Establish hose and wire routings for assembly.
Through behavior and communication, maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
Meet or exceed typical expectations for engineering competence, productivity, creativity, and safety.
Simultaneously work on multiple projects as needed.
Conduct FEA and/or CFD analysis as determined necessary.

**What You Will Do:**
This Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is with the Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Military Repair Group. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs for military engines. This includes development of the repair concept, writing of the repair, obtaining approvals, and coordination with the end user. The ideal candidate would be expected to take ownership of several concurrently running projects that may include duties such as organizing testing activities, supporting shop floor active production requests, coordinating approvals and technical discussions as well as liaising with internal and external Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Other responsibilities will include leveraging experience to assist newer engineers, as well as coaching and mentoring.
+ Participate in a multi-discipline team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the OEM parts.
+ Research operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return non conforming parts back to service.
+ Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs.
+ Interface with the technical and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues.

+ Ensure repair tasks and shop floor requests are completed to schedule and on budget.
+ Assist less experienced engineers with their tasks, providing guidance and mentorship.

**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (STEM) and 2 years of experience in Engineering, Operations, Overhaul, and/or Program Management in the gas turbine industry. Or an Advanced degree.

Job Description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with 3+ years of experience in industrial assembly lines, preferably in the HVAC industry, to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes focused on assembly line operations, while collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Quality, Scheduling, Design Engineering, and sheet metal Fabrication. This role involves driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools and presenting solutions to higher management. The candidate will also take ownership of projects, acting as the lead and primary point of contact with internal and external contractors and contributors. As well as identifying bottlenecks, implementing solutions. A strong background in 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques is essential, along with the ability to lead and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in the HVAC industry or industrial assembly lines.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
Familiarity with assembly line operations and sheet metal fabrication processes.
Proven ability to take ownership of projects. Be able to write Capital Appropriation Request (CAR), present in sourcing board meeting, and manage the budget for the project. As well as acting as the lead and primary point of contact for internal and external contractors/contributors.
Expertise in problem-solving tools: fishbone analysis, 6M, 5Whys, and root cause analysis.
An ability to identify bottlenecks, suggest solutions, and implement changes effectively.
Strong background in Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Gemba, and Kaizen.
Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills to interact with higher management and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green/Black Belt certification highly desired).

Our Site Design team provides design services for retail, commercial, mixed-use, and residential land development projects, along with industrial, sports, schools, and other site development types. As a civil engineering student intern, you will perform meaningful, hands-on, real-world work that will transform your classroom experience and help you envision your future career. You'll be part of our team, working for our clients on projects with our most experienced engineers. You'll assist with creating construction plans for sites that can include site layout, grading, stormwater, and utilities in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
