Applies all rules, regulations, and guidelines to allow products to meet the requirements of licensing and approval bodies such as UL (Underwriter's Laboratories), OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology), CE marking, ABS (American Bureau of Shipbuilding), etc.
Supports manufacturing by clarifying dimensions and fit, resolving tolerance problems, and describing methods for assembly. Supporting knowledge for this activity includes complete understanding of accessories, how they function, and how they are attached to the product being manufactured.
Design modifications of existing products to overcome a manufacturing obstacle or to achieve additional component functionality.
Completes the necessary documentation for manufacturability using a variety of company and regulatory standards.
Researches and obtains answers to a variety of questions and problems. Questions and problem solutions may result from troubleshooting production issues, design problems, quality issues, or other internal departments. Creation of solutions and answers may require complex thought and extensive research of reference materials and subject matter experts outside of the TCS/Murray Equipment organization.
Maintains a “can-do” service attitude in keeping with the vision, goals and key performance indicators set by executive management.

Lewis Bakeries is searching for an Assistant Plant Engineer to report directly to the Bakery Chief Engineer while being responsible for supervising all positions within the Maintenance Department and that will work collectively with the Chief Engineer to coordinate and discuss plans to maximize the bakery performance. The Assistant Plant Engineer will be in charge of assisting and coordinating the supporting bakery maintenance team to achieve a safe and efficient completion of the workload. The Assistant Plant Engineer is also accountable for execution of preventative maintenance schedules for process equipment and maintaining up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures. Lewis Bakeries operates on a 24-hour continuous schedule; the Assistant Plant Engineer must be available as needed. The Assistant Plant Engineer generally works the opposite shift of the Chief Engineer to maximize departmental leadership exposure.

Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and repair Packaging, Conveyors, Ovens, Boilers, Refrigeration and related Bakery Machinery.
Supervise/Perform repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, bakery machinery and equipment.

Maintain Preventative maintenance schedules.

Accountable for correctly reporting and recording data as required.
Do other job related routine tasks as required including training.
Supervise/Perform general facility maintenance tasks.
Assist in the on-the-job training assignments.
Work from Blue Prints and/or mechanical drawings.
Work safely and maintain sanitary work environment.
Communicate to the Chief Engineer/Plant Manager any down-time information.
Ensure all equipment is operational and OSHA compliant
Leads troubleshooting activities related to equipment failures, reliability, throughput, quality problems or environmental exceedances.
Coaches and counsels employees on job performance and teamwork

Overview:

* Designing fixturing, tooling, mechanical components, and assemblies
* Taking ownership of Mechanical Design from project scope through completion
D) Process Development
* Initiating and participating in departmental or company strategic programs. This includes cycle time analysis, safety, quality, and/or cost improvements
* Aiding the quality department with audit action items, field service as needed, and any quality issues associated with manufacturing
E) Continuous Improvement

Researches and obtains answers to a variety of questions and problems.
