Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern or Co-Op to further develop and scale our PFAS Annihilator SCWO technology. The position is based in Columbus, OH. Key Responsibilities for your projects could be: Engineering Design & System Development Design, prototype, and iterate mechanical components and subsystems for Annihilator systems and support equipment. Assist in the selection and specification of mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, fittings, and materials for high-temperature/high-pressure environments. Support assembly, fit-up, and testing of newly fabricated equipment; identify and resolve mechanical interferences and installation issues. Operations Support and Troubleshooting Collaborate closely with site operators, technicians, and engineers to support day-to-day operations of the SCWO systems. Investigate and resolve mechanical failures or equipment anomalies, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions. Develop and implement maintenance procedures, equipment setup guides, and operating protocols for mechanical systems. R&D and Process Optimization Collaborate with chemical/process engineers to translate theoretical concepts into testable mechanical solutions (e.g., injection hardware, quench systems, thermal shielding, brine handling). Analyze test results, identify trends, and recommend mechanical or operational changes to increase system uptime, throughput, or maintainability. Assist in designing and executing long-duration reliability tests to characterize mechanical component performance over time under SCWO-relevant conditions. Required Qualifications Knowledge and/or experience in process engineering design. Strong safety record and mindset. Experience with CAD modeling Excellent problem-solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills. Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. * Assist project managers in the execution of their essential job functions including but not limited to the completion of pre-remodel checklists and "as built" fixture/refrigeration drawings * Assist in execution of contractor bid process * Assist in weekly tasks and job meetings during capital projects * Assist in the timely preparation and execution of equipment orders * Assist in tracking equipment orders and scheduling deliveries in accordance with construction schedule * Assist with the management of store fixture installation * Assist with project closeout (i.e. punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, filing) * Assist in the inspection of capital projects for compliance with specifications and quality control * Coordinate reviews of refrigeration and electrical/mechanical plans with technician staff * Assist in the review of proposed change orders and their validity * Assist in the review of architecture plans for completeness and compliance with standards * Provide support to other Facility Engineering personnel, as requested * Participate in department meetings and "huddles" * Complete estimates and manage completion of minor capital projects * Complete specific assignments as requested and/or required by the co-op/intern program of the college being attended * Complete cumulative project (summary of internship accomplishments) and present to executive team or appropriate managers * Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Principle Accountabilities include: Work with engineers, maintenance, consultants, contractors, vendors, and operations. Work on special projects assigned to assist engineers, teach responsibility, and improve communication. Organize and implement moderate to large process improvements, problem elimination and capital/expense projects focusing on asset health and overall improved reliability. Troubleshooting problems and perform root cause analysis. Modify and optimize the maintenance (PM) work process Recommend innovative solutions to improve equipment, facility, and plant operations.
