Our Manassas, Virginia team has an opening for a microelectronics hardware engineer to develop the most advanced radiation hardened computer processors, ASICs, and FPGAs to support our Space Systems line of business. We are seeking team players with strong interests in computer architecture, digital logic, VLSI, custom IC design, design verification, digital system testing, re-configurable computing, or systems on a chip.

You would be a member of the team whose products have been deployed in commercial, civil and national security space missions; including GPS, weather monitoring, satellite TV and radio, exploring the universe; most notably the Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity. Additional work opportunities would include electronic warfare technology to deliver superior situational awareness, even in the most complex battlespace - defeating threats long before they can be seen. With this job, you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of developing hardware from concept to deployment.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

MTS - IC DESIGN ENGINEER (Hybrid) - (2203315) Description Description - Internal
ON Semiconductor's Mobile Point of Load group is hiring a Member of Technical Staff IC design engineer with direct experience in high current DCDC converters and power switch circuits used in central office and other applications. The chosen candidate will design complex integrated circuits that include digital, mixed signal, and analog circuits. The chosen candidate will have proven capability in designing analog blocks with CMOS, BICMOS, and BCD technologies for use in switching regulator systems and other power management functions. A deep understanding of analog design techniques in .18u and below IC process technologies is required. An understanding of packaging technologies and layout tradeoffs are also required. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a small team environment. Must have a working knowledge of Mixed-Signal Cadence tools and parasitic parameter extraction. Analytical approach to problem solving is highly required. These are leading edge power technology products and provide challenging learning opportunities.

Definition, modeling, design, and verification of highly integrated power-management ICs such as dc-dc converters, LED drivers, linear regulators, and other types of analog/mixed-signal ASICs. Ability to work at any level of the design is absolutely essential.
Implement full-featured behavioral models of complex analog/mixed-signal ICs.
Interface with test, product, and applications engineering to drive the design to a successful production release.
Provide senior technical leadership including IC specification, project planning, design team management, and layout supervision
Close collaboration with system architects and product definers.

Qualifications Qualifications - Internal
Experience Required:

10+ years of analog, mixed-signal IC design experience encompassing diverse areas such as:
- DC-DC converters, LDOs, Chargers, Bandgaps, Low Power Design
Detailed knowledge of various power conversion architectures (Boost, Buck, Buck-Boost) and various control methods.
Proven track record of technical leadership including multiple products taken from specification through design, release, volume manufacturing, and field support.
System modeling skills in SIMPLIS or Matlab highly desirable.
CAD tools:
- Must be familiar with Cadence Virtuoso CAD tool suite: schematic, layout, simulation and verification.
- Must be experienced with top-down analog behavioral modeling methodology including fluent use of Verilog-A/AMS as appropriate.
- Skill in design automation tools and scripting environments is essential.
- Familiarity with Verilog and digital design and verification is a plus.

Education Required:

MS/PhD with 10+ years of analog mixed-signal design experience preferably in the power-management application area.

Physical Design Engineer

Full Time Employment

Responsibilities

As the physical implementation lead you will set up the flow for both logic and physical synthesis flow for various technology nodes.
Work with the ASIC design and DFT teams to understand the design and help review or create timing constraints.
Check the RTL design for clean synthesis run, perform STA and LEC on netlist.
Work with RFIC teams to make sure the top-level integration of analog blocks is done properly and correct by construction, including formal connectivity checks.
Work with P&R teams to ensure a smooth hand off netlists, ensure the timely execution of the P&R responsibilities by that team.
Lead the timing sign-off for the post P&R database.
Ensure that the chip meets the required DFM criteria by verifying the IR/EM results.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience in ASIC implementation, i.e., synthesis, STA and working with P&R for deep sub-micron nodes, preferably 16nm or smaller.
Experience leading or solely developing the methodology and scripts for physical synthesis.
