About the Role The Design Engineering Summer Internship offers a 3-month immersive design experience. This program allows participants to step away from their academic studies and engage in real-world engineering challenges directly tied to the company's strategic objectives. Located at Watlow's technical development center (TDC) and manufacturing center of excellence (MCOE) in Winona, Minnesota, participants will work on impactful projects in design and development of products within our Industrial Control Systems division. They will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world design projects while collaborating closely with mentors and experienced engineers. Design Engineering Interns will support some or all of the following as related to their engineering major/discipline and internship projects: Design and development of new products or redesigns of existing products (i.e. controllers, sensors, control systems). Conduct experiments to aid design. Investigate paths to utilize automation to reduce development time. Build prototypes and participate in prototype design reviews. Complete reliability, experimental, and validation testing and evaluate results for new or existing products. Evaluate products for functionality enhancements and/or cost improvements. Work within a cross-functional team to gain exposure to other design engineering disciplines, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions. Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or electrical engineering. Completed a minimum of two years of a bachelor's degree program in one of the above engineering majors. Available to work full-time in Summer 2026 in Watlow's Winona, MN, location. The Watlow internship program offers students a chance to be part of a team working on projects that matter. It provides valuable experience beyond the classroom, allowing participants to build their engineering careers in a meaningful way.

The entry level mechanical designer will be responsible for creating models and drawing of various components and assemblies for heat exchangers, as well as populating the top-level bill of material. These drawings will need to be complete with material codes, or create new material codes if needed, pertinent manufacturing notes, and be maintained on Autodesk Inventor and Vault. This designer will work closely with the higher tier designers to ensure the design is complete before releasing the project for manufacturing. They will be required to learn learn about our heat exchanger product line, the iterations of various designs, as well as material resource planning (MRP) and allocations in our MRP software at a quick pace. What you will do: The Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op in La Crosse, WI, provides college students with challenging assignments, leadership training and valuable exposure to our company's senior leaders. Through meaningful work projects, our Co-op program offers candidates working toward their Bachelor's or Master's in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree exposure to a variety assignments which could include: Waste elimination projects for manufacturing areas, Standard work creation and updates, Manufacturing process improvement projects (Lean Manufacturing), Industrial engineering studies, Value Stream capability studies, Capital equipment expense requests, Manufacturing Process Automation and systems integration, Data analysis of manufacturing and warehouse operations, Process Risk assessments for Quality, Ergo, and Safety, Energy Audits . * What you will bring: * Working towards a BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree * Overall 3.0 GPA or above * Demonstrated leadership skills (minimum of one example in the last four years such as: school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership of work projects) * Resiliency and ability to adapt quickly Compensation: Base Pay Range: $24..00 - 27.00 per hour Relocation: $ 3,500 Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan.
