General Purpose

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.

A minimum of 10 years of hydroelectric programming experience.
A PE license is required.

Responsible for evaluating current manufacturing and assembly operations to identify cost-savings, efficiency, and quality improvements while also designing and fabricating automated systems, tools, and fixtures. Supports Molding and Assembly departments by developing processes, troubleshooting issues, and implementing electromechanical automation solutions. Drives continuous improvement through data-driven analysis and collaborative engineering practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops, maintains, and improves manufacturing methods.
2. Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and layout for maximum efficiency.
3. Designs and builds fixtures, end-of-arm tools, electromechanical devices, and automation systems.
4. Supports and participates in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including budgeting, procurement, scheduling, and process development.
5. Evaluates efficiency reports, NCRs, SPC reports, and feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
6. Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for production issues.
7. Partners with Tooling, Sales, and other departments to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
8. Confers with vendors to determine specifications, purchase materials/equipment, and evaluate quality.
9. Coordinates with other engineering staff and departments on tooling, product design, and manufacturing capabilities.
10. Estimates production times, staffing needs, and costs for management planning.
11. Develops and implements process control systems for quality and consistency. Evaluates processes, utilization of automation, ergonomics, training, manpower utilization, tools, workflow, etc. and makes improvements.
12. Programs and operates CNC equipment, 3D printers, and other fabrication tools.
13. Establishes and maintains setup sheets, work instructions, and documentation for CNC, robotic, and electromechanical equipment.
14. Participates in Lean/process improvement initiatives and production planning meetings.
15. Collaborates on work cell layout, construction, and efficiency improvements.
16. Trains and mentors junior engineers and technicians.
17. Prioritizes projects based on production needs and management directives. May assist in managing projects.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
2. Must be able to read and understand part drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
3. Must be able to perform advanced math functions and apply them at work.
4. Must be able to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
5. Must have strong machining knowledge and experience in fabrication equipment (mills, grinders, lathes, etc.).
6. Must have advanced computer skills (MRPII, spreadsheets, word processing, SolidWorks or Pro/E, etc.).
7. Must have advanced knowledge and experience in CAD systems.
8. Must have basic to advanced understanding of injection molding operations, mold design, and window study techniques.
9. Must have knowledge of process control involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
10. Must have basic knowledge of ultrasonic welding and pad printing.
11. Knowledge of PLCs is preferred; advanced PLC programming experience is a plus.
12. Must be able to program and operate CNC machinery.
13. Experience with 3D printing technology is preferred.
14. Proven ability to design, build, and implement automation and robotic systems.
15. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
16. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
17. Requires minimum three years' experience in manufacturing, automation, or related field.
