Butler-Cohen Project Engineer I (PEI) is responsible for assisting with administrative functions of the Project, such as Submittals, RFIs, Drawing Log Management, Document Control, Meeting Agendas, and assisting the PE/APM/PM in their duties. The Project Engineer I position is an onsite position geared toward the developmental growth and experience of the individual in the construction process. The primary responsibility of all PEs is to learn under their team superintendent. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Document Control Populating Procore with most current drawings and specifications. Submittals Create submittal log in Procore, establish necessary workflows for submittals within Procore. Processing of submittals to ensure timely receipt from subcontractors, and timely approval from design team. Project Engineer, with assistance from APM or PM should be able to ensure accurate job coordination within submittals to identify and resolve conflicts through the submittal process. Communication of submittal statuses to project team and provide detailed support for PM during OAC meetings. Ensure that submittals are readily accessible by all project stakeholders, and that submittals are disseminated to the appropriate trades to ensure multi-disciplinary coordination. Follow up with subcontractor when a submittal is “approved as noted” to ensure all comments/notes are acknowledged by subcontractor. RFIs Receive RFIs from subcontractors and/or create RFIs for issues encountered. RFIs to be well written to ensure they are easily understood and reference all applicable documents that require review prior to A/E response. Maintain log of RFIs and ensure timely and complete response from design team. Communicate status of RFIs to project team, and provide detailed support for PM during OAC meetings. Identify RFIs that will result in changes to the project cost or time, and communicate to PM to ensure the change is appropriately tracked. Ensure that all RFIs are properly posted in the contract documents so that all project stakeholders can identify the question/answer when reviewing contract documents. General Ensure that Procore is maintained with all current information. Prevent mistakes from being translated into the field due to inaccurate or outdated information being accessible and not understood. Material Expediting Procurement Log Maintain procurement log, and coordinate with vendors/subcontractors to ensure that material procurement is tracking for timely arrival of materials to the jobsite. Understanding and confirming lead times to populate into procurement log. Communicate changes in material needs due to schedule changes. Provide reporting to project team related to the status of material procurement. Quality Control Assist superintendent and/or QC department with QC phase meetings. This may involve conducting meetings, preparing for, and/or attending and documenting. Monitor project deliveries to ensure that materials are in accordance with approved submittals, project, documents, and are being stored per spec and manufacturer requirements. Review work in place to ensure locations and fitment coordinated within shop drawings is being installed as coordinated. Project Administration Meetings Assist in the preparation of all project related meetings, and the documentation of those meetings into meeting minutes. Pull Planning Assist with pull planning sessions. Changes Assist with the tracking of changes, and receipt of cost breakdowns from subcontractors. Schedule Maintenance Assist in the as-built of the project schedule to allow the PM and superintendent to make timely and efficient updates to the master schedule. Assistance to Superintendent and PM Provide general support to the PM and superintendent as needed. Project Closeout Submittals Ensure timely submission and approval of all closeout documents prior to the project's substantial completion. Punchlist Assist in the preparation of the punch list. The Project Engineer assists Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. This is a national role that requires relocation.
