The Plant Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, and maintenance of all of the plant Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage power distribution systems for our 24/7 Food Ingredients Manufacturing Operation.
Key responsibilities: Senior Electrical Engineer
Contribute to the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the plant power distribution systems
Serve as plant electrical safety advisor and expert
Could manage area power and control resources,
Develop the technical skills of others outside the electrical discipline
Provide electrical technical specifications, standards, and guidelines
Maintain plant electrical documentation
Cooperatively work with engineering teams to plan, develop, support, and implement capital and sustaining projects to improve safety, reduce costs, improve quality, reduce environmental impacts and increase capacity.
Review all project plans that require modifications or additions to the plant power distribution system to ensure adequate capacity is available and loads are balanced as much as possible.
Coordinate site activities with our electric utility as required.
Provide low and medium voltage preventative maintenance oversight and enhancement
Monitor plant power systems for issues and problems
Drive corrective actions from predictive maintenance testing of the plant electrical systems
Direct planned plant outages required for major electrical and control system upgrades
Direct work for process opportunities and plant outages required for major electrical system upgrades
Provide emergency support for the plant's 24/7/365 operations
About You
We're looking for engineers who strive for excellence and are eager for more responsibility.
BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years' experience preferred. Will also consider Journeyman Electrician with 10+ years experience in a process industry manufacturing plant.
Experience with 120V/480V/4160V/15kV power distribution design, installation, and maintenance
Experience with Natural Gas Cogeneration Systems is a plus
Knowledge of power distribution system protection including--but not limited to--short circuit and arc flash analysis, SKM modelling, and relay applications/programming
Ability to understand and implement multiple layers of reliability and predictive maintenance testing including but not limited to transformer oil testing, infrared scans, partial discharge testing, and ultrasound monitoring.
Experience with motor control system design and installation
Experience with specifying instrumentation and electrical equipment
Experience with supporting and/or managing large capital projects that require electrical and instrumentation construction
Working understanding of NFPA and NEC regulations
Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to take ownership of electrical systems without supervision
Positive, interactive engagement at all organizational levels
Excellent oral and written skills

* Create 3D models & 2D drawings with Autodesk Inventor

* Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules, as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design PCB [Printed Circuit Board] layouts, as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Work Environment
Work at a manufacturing site in North America, operating since 1955, covering approximately 3,000,000 sq. ft. with around 3,100 employees. The environment focuses on lower powertrain assembly, supporting axle assemblies, final drives, brakes, and related components for large mining trucks and other heavy machinery. This is a full-time, 5 days per week onsite role with a primary schedule on first shift, but expect occasional overlap with second or third shifts. The work setting is dynamic and hands-on, emphasizing safety, precision, and collaboration.

Design engineer job in Assumption, IL
We are seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer to join our Grain Sales Support team at our Assumption, IL facility. The ideal candidate will review new project requests for storage, material handling, conditioning, and structures to determine the best application to meet the customer's requirements. You will work directly with dealers to provide recommendations on product sizing and function for systems projects. You will also work with Product Management, Sales and Engineering on customer requests that require customization to determine feasibility and profitability of the project.
Your Impact
Evaluate project scope and utilize technical knowledge to assist in selecting the correct GSI equipment per the specific application requested.
Review specifications and understand AutoCAD layout drawings of the proposed facility.
Maintain current knowledge base of GSI's product line, industry trends, and competitor's products.
Provide accurate and detailed quotations in a timely fashion.
Provide support as needed to both internal and external teams.
Your Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in one of the following is preferred:
Engineering
Agribusiness or another Agricultural related field
4+ years of engineering, applications, or sales experience in the agriculture industry preferred
Advanced understanding of grain facility design and applications
Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred
Your Compensation and Benefits
Expected annual salary for this role will be $72,000 - $90,000, plus eligible for an annual bonus. This is dependent upon job related knowledge, experience, and skills.
