Mechanical designs functional, reliable and cost-effective, heavy-duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles. Provide integration and execution support for vehicle and component design.
Under supervision, perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to the firm as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity. May be responsible for managing multiple projects.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
Provide technical assistance for production support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.

Role Description
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer - Flexibles with proven expertise in flexible packaging. This role will lead the development and commercialization of new packaging structures, films, laminations, and pouch formats, while also providing technical support across our labels and folding carton businesses. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a practical, customer-focused mindset to deliver solutions that meet performance, cost, and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead product development projects from concept to commercialization for flexible packaging applications (films, laminations, pouches).
Work with suppliers to identify innovative raw materials, adhesives, inks, and films to support growth and sustainability initiatives.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to translate customer needs into packaging solutions.
Design, test, and qualify new materials, structures, and processes in alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.
Support manufacturing scale-up, trials, and troubleshooting for new products and processes across flexible, label, and carton platforms.
Maintain detailed documentation of development activities, testing results, and project status.
Drive continuous improvement in cost, efficiency, performance, and environmental impact of packaging.
Learn about and collaborate with other company Product Development Engineers, regarding labels, folding cartons and integrated packaging solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent experience.
3-7 years of product development experience in flexible packaging (films, laminations, or converting).
Strong understanding of materials, laminations, barrier properties, sealing, and converting processes.
Experience in lab testing (tensile, seal strength, WVTR/OTR, migration) and manufacturing trials.
Knowledge of sustainability trends and recyclable/compostable packaging materials is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
Able to work on-site in Neenah, Wisconsin with domestic business travel occurring 20-25% of the time.

Your Opportunity:
As a Machine DesignEngineer I/II for Greenheck Group you will perform tasks that are related to the design and manufacture of machinery, tooling, and automation. These machines will be used in Greenheck's manufacturing facilities for custom fabrication and forming of Greenheck Group products. You will have the opportunity to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing tooling as well as designing for new construction. This role is for our Schofield, WI location. We are open to considering candidates who are open to relocation to the central Wisconsin area.
What you'll be doing as a Machine DesignEngineer I:
Under direct supervision, design and development of basic machine and tooling designs and redesigns in coordination with engineering and manufacturing functions.
Manage basic individual projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates.
Prepare bill-of-materials on new and changed designs and special design requests under the direction of the design team.
Maintain accurate and current documentation.
Assist the release of design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs.
Evaluate basic material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs.
Review, along with purchasing personnel, the selection and specification of new purchased component parts for product designs
Participate in the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results.
May be required to set up and run test equipment
Lead basic projects to review the testing of machine start-up, interpreting results and recommending and/or implementing necessary corrective action based on test results for final run-off of the machine for the customer.
Analyze product designs for manufacturing feasibility and make recommendations on delivery time, cost and part quality.
Support business units with equipment breakdowns, process improvements, LEAN manufacturing.
Provide technical direction to shop floor personnel/maintenance to correct design problems as they arise.
As a Machine DesignEngineer II:
Lead design and development of moderate to complex new machine and tooling designs and redesigns in coordination with engineering and manufacturing functions.
Manage moderate to complex team projects and will be a resource to determine timelines.
Prepare bill-of-materials on larger, complex projects for new and changed designs and special design requests.
Maintaining and improving current documentation to the minimum of set standards.
May oversee the release of a large design project into production, including any necessary testing, machine installs, and training required for implementing new or changed designs
Evaluate complex material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs. Review, along with purchasing personnel, the selection and specification of new purchased component parts for product designs
Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results. May be required to set up and run test equipment

4 Year / bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
Strong working knowledge of CAD systems and understanding of machine design.
