Perform system calculations including loads, sizing, pressure drops, and energy analysis. 4. Maintain current knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, energy, and building codes, including AHJ requirements. 5. Participate in energy evaluations, payback analyses, and sustainability initiatives (including LEED support where applicable). 6. Support estimating with design-build concepts, system layouts, technical clarifications, and engineering narratives. 7. Review and validate proposed substitutions and “equals” prior to bid submission and document approved alternatives. 9. Assist estimating and project management with obtaining complete, compliant mechanical equipment quotes, including coordination with manufacturers' representatives. 10. Maintain a clear understanding of project scope, estimated cost, design budget, risks, and optimization opportunities. 11. Collaborate with detailing, fabrication, and field teams to ensure constructability and early system optimization. 12. Provide technical support to project management and detailing teams on both design-build and plan/spec projects, including drawing interpretation and RFI production and review. 14. Participate in and oversee system optimization efforts throughout construction. 15. Support PlanGrid (or equivalent platform) population and maintenance in accordance with company procedures. 16. Prepare permit-ready, budget-compliant design drawings and documentation for design-build and special projects. 17. Coordinate with AHJs to obtain permits and resolve permitting issues, including in-person permit acquisition when required. 18. Support inspections and address code or compliance comments as necessary. 19. The Role As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering inputs integral to both small and large-scale hydro and dam projects. You will lead teams conducting technical work for feasibility studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out site visits and inspections. Key Responsibilities: Design modifications to, or entirely new, mechanical systems related to dams, control structures, water retaining structures, and hydroelectric generating stations. Execute multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and provide design and construction support. Some highlights should include: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. A post-graduate degree would be an asset. Job Description As an engineer on the Vode team, you will be responsible for defining and designing the products that are changing the face of the lighting industry. At Vode, minimalist design isn't a slavish devotion to cool, it is a direct and highly engineered response to the architectural marketplace. Your work will involve collaboration with industrial designers, mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers and other key stakeholders as you design a world class lighting product. You will be expected to lead the design, development and validation in the creation of various lighting product designs and technologies. You will use your experience designing for high volume manufacturing processes and automated assembly to deliver the lowest cost of energy to our customers. You have experience delivering complex parts and assemblies on time and in specification. You have designed for a number of high volume manufacturing processes, and you have experience pushing the limits of manufacturing processes to get the results you need at the right price point. · Proficiency specifying GD&T and working with vendors to deliver parts that work · Ability to design for a wide range of high volume fabrication and manufacturing processes. Expert working knowledge of design using injection molded plastics, castings, machining, aluminum extrusions and sheet metal parts that meet functional requirements and are suited for mass production. · Proficiency in CAD modeling, Solidworks experience highly valued. Experience with advanced modeling techniques is a plus. Work with minimal supervision and create production documentation including product requirement documents, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOM). · Experience with product and process validation, reliability testing, and compliance · Detail oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills · Proficient with Microsoft Office. · 5+ years in mechanical design and documentation. · Proven ability to provide solutions to moderately complex engineering problems. · Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical issues both verbally and in writing.
