Analyze, design, verify, validate, implement, apply, and maintain software systems\. Appropriately apply discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, and other relevant topics in computer science and supporting disciplines to complex software systems\. Generalize techniques, as appropriate, to apply to multiple domains\. Develop and provide appropriate documentation and training\. Present briefings and demonstrations\.

**Basic Qualifications:**

• BS plus 5 years, MS plus 3 years, or Doctoral plus no experience, AS plus 7, HS/GED plus 9 years

The Role
• Provide technical oversight and direction in the design of components, sub-systems, and features
• Design/develop/test embedded applications in C and C++
• Work with the global team to deliver software for automotive products
• Participate in design, code, and system reviews
• Analyze existing embedded software to add features, make modifications, fix bugs, and/or port to different platforms
• Collaborate with the Software Architect to ensure alignment with the software architecture
• Support feature owners in the design of system features

The Requirements
To be a good fit for Senior Software Engineer / Design Champion you will have:
• 5+ years prior experience in a related position
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering
• Demonstrated software design skills of automotive systems with mid to high complexity, inter-process communication, and embedded devices
• Working Knowledge with Autosar, Linux, and/or QNX operating systems
• Working knowledge of software analysis tools (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, CANalyzer, CANOE, etc.)
• Working knowledge of compilers, software debuggers (e.g. GDB), in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers
• Working knowledge of software project planning and test plan development
• Ability to work with or lead a team of remotely located software engineers
• Must have a positive attitude, good oral and written communication skills, and able to work well in a team environment

Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineering System Low Level Designer that can drive low level design efforts of our software products for legacy and next generation control systems. The position will be responsible for creating and refining software architectures for embedded systems, implementing software designs on both bare metal and virtualized resources, and conduct low level verification activities in support of aircraft certification. This position requires proficiency with embedded computing systems, software architecture principles as they apply to embedded software, experience with aerospace software product lifecycles, and experience with software integration and verification techniques.

This position is for a Principle Software Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. This role will consist of conducting and coordinating software development activities, conducting complex tests, debugging systems with control and diagnostic capabilities, make recommendations to management on ways to improve cost and quality of software products, implement critical software system capabilities, prepare and present design reviews, and coordinate software development activities across multiple organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:

+ Create and refine software architecture for embedded control and diagnostic systems

+ Implement designs on both bare metal and virtualized platforms

+ Ensure software meets performance metrics through utilization of instrumentation and benchmarks

+ Conduct and coordinate low level verification activities defined by DO-178C

+ Debug systems with control and diagnostic capabilities

+ Make recommendations to management on ways to improve cost and quality of software products

+ Design and implement build procedures that are used to drive hardware and software product development and function.

+ Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of control and diagnostic systems

+ Establish end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.

+ Ensures hardware and software standards are met.

+ May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.

+ May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.

+ Identify opportunities to lead model-based development transformation

Basic Qualification:

+ Bachelor's degree (Preferably in Computer Engineering) and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR

+ Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR

+ In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required

+ Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder
