Position Summary
The School of Music and Dance (SOMD) Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist (Specialist) serves as the primary print and digital designer for all SOMD projects, with a special emphasis on digital communications. The Specialist works closely with the Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing and SOMD Communications team in promoting events and academic departments to prospective and current students, parents, alumni, donors, and community members by creating visually impactful imagery.
The Specialist produces communications with a view to creating cohesive and consistent messages utilizing visual communication and visual identity principles. This position also supports SOMD auxiliary programs such as Community Music Institute, Chamber Music at Beall, and the Grammy-winning Oregon Bach Festival. The Specialist is the principal artistic content creator and is responsible for generating several new original pieces of communications artwork throughout the year. This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Graphic Designer positions for Recreational Sports at Oregon State University (OSU).
Student Graphic Designers play a key role in serving both Recreational Sports and Student Experiences and Engagement. Working collaboratively with professional marketing staff, designers create engaging materials that promote Rec Sports and Student Experiences and Engagement facilities, programs and services to the campus community. Projects include both digital media (social media graphics, digital signage and email newsletters) and print media (posters, flyers and more).

* Design and Produce Visual Content: Create, proofread, and edit print and digital deliverables using Adobe Creative Cloud tools, ensuring alignment with OSU branding, accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

* Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

* Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain design concepts to non-designers.
* Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading and quality assurance for both print and digital materials.

* Commitment to providing an exceptional client experience, including active listening, responsiveness, and professionalism.
* First Aid, CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider and DRS Bloodborne Pathogens certifications is required before employment begins and will be provided by the department upon hiring
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
* There is a strong preference for students enrolled in OSU's Graphic Design Program.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Period of Employment: One academic year (continuing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a 30 day probationary period and satisfactory job performance as evaluated by immediate supervisor). 10-15 Hours a week within the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m Monday-Friday.
Compensation: Student employees are paid an hourly wage consistent with the OSU Student Employment Pay Rate Guidelines. The Department of Recreational Sports identifies pay ranges based upon job duties, level of responsibility and complexity of the work to be performed.

**About the Role**
The UI/UX Designer at PSI will own the end-to-end design process, creating user experiences that are intuitive, elegant, and aligned with both user needs and business goals. This role requires a systems thinker who can translate complex workflows into seamless, user-friendly designs, advocate for UX best practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver exceptional digital products.

**Role Responsibilities**
