The Role We Want You For
The Structural Designer II will be working with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to provide Structural Design and Quality Assurance on industrial (distribution, manufacturing, food and beverage, and cold storage) projects for our nationwide clients. This role is for the Kansas City or St. Louis metro area and is an on-site position.
Scope of Responsibility
Scope of BIM Designer II is to work closely with more experienced engineers and designers to assists in the development of deliverables. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Designer. This individual may also delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level Designers and provide oversight of their work. This individual shall be able to work self-sufficiently most of the time and understands the basics of communicating effectively with the engineers and other disciplines involved in the project.
The Specifics of the Role
Uses Revit Structures effectively
Ability to use Navisworks effectively a plus
Good knowledge of how construction documents are put together
Creates conceptual structural models based on verbal direction or rough sketches from engineers or other designers. Incorporates standard notes and details for use in the construction documents.
Manages and incorporates electronic or paper redlines from the Structural Engineer using established workflows.
Takes complete ownership of their portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Highly focused on quality, ensuring conformance with established structural standards, project standards, and project delivery processes.
Highly proficient in checking his/her own work and coordinating work with related disciplines to avoid clashes.
Able to mentor junior designers by assisting with finding answers to technical questions and concerns.
Trained in Autodesk Revit Structure (Architectural / Structural design in 3D modeling)
Motivated and Self Starter / Pays attention to details and willing to learn other disciplines if needed.
Positive and team oriented attitude
Communicates well with team members and consultants
Requirements
Associate's degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or similar technical degree. (or 3+ years of experience utilizing BIM software)
2-5 years of experience required, in an operating company or design firm setting.
