Merrick & Company is seeking a mid-level Structural Designer to work on a variety of projects for multiple market sectors - primarily industrial oil & gas, power plant and biofuel facilities as well as Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE). This is a full-time position and can be located in our Greenwood Village, CO; Tulsa, OK; or Richmond, VA offices. Pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00 per hour. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Demonstrate competentcy in 3-dimensional (3D) modeling of steel structures, foundations and equipment using AutoCAD based software. * Produce structural plans, elevations, sections, and details for steel and concrete structures. * 3-dimensional (3D) modeling using AutoCAD. * 2-dimensional (2D) building layouts and detailing using AutoCAD. * Read plans, pick up redlined drawings and notes. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum four (4) years of experience as a structural designer / drafter. * Proficiency in AutoCAD. * Practical experience using AutoCAD and Revit BIM software. * Must be familiar with commonly used structural steel detailing, foundation detailing, sheet layouts and plan reading. * Experience with CAD design of steel and concrete structures and foundations. * High School Diploma / GED. * Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. What You Will Do: Potential service areas for internships are listed below: * Assist civil engineers and other design staff to prepare, edit and label project designs in Civil3D and/or MicroStation. * This work may be in the following disciplines: municipal, land development, transportation, water resources, water / waste water, and structural. * Construction inspection / environmental compliance interns perform field observation, verify compliance with plans and specifications, prepare pay estimates, and produce project documentation. * Geotech / materials interns assist engineers to collect and analyze soil, concrete, and aggregate samples; and prepare daily observation reports. * Surveying interns assist a survey crew to collect and report data; and carry and pound hubs and lath to mark grade. * Our Preferred candidate will have: Experience working in Texas including TxDOT, Cities, and/or Counties. What You Will Bring: The successful candidate will be: * Enrolled in a four-year or two-year technical school, college or university majoring in civil/environmental/construction engineering, construction management, civil technology, land surveying, or related field. * You must possess a valid driver's license, have a clean driving record, and * Have the ability to get to various worksite locations. * You must be at least 18 years old. * For field-based positions, you must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with construction projects.
