* Desktop Services Tech will perform intermediate (level 1) to advanced (level 2) administration of desktop related technologies, including installation, configuration, system software maintenance, desktop monitoring, performance tuning and optimizations, upgrade, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair, and support for enterprise production desktop technologies and back-office platforms in accordance with department policies and procedures

* Manage customer service requests using approved IT Service Management standards, policies, and procedures

* Administer appropriate levels of desktop services and related security controls to secure enterprise computing assets from vulnerabilities and threats (e.g., anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spy ware, etc.)

* Participate and contribute to relevant business resumption recovery activities of assigned areas and consult with external vendors for resolution

* As a Desktop Services Tech, you will work with manufacturers and vendors to effectively resolve desktop-related problems as it relates to this position

* Perform preventative maintenance and make corrective actions to problems delegating to other team members as may be needed

* Receive, screen, and provide requested technical support to end-users and/or escalate requests to appropriate IT staff via Service Desk or other communication media, using appropriate technologies and procedures to resolve issues

* Maintain professional written and face-to-face communications with employees and colleagues at all levels across the firm and in support of the company's mission and values

* Desktop Services Techs train and provide technical guidance to internal clients on hardware and software support issues

* Brief management and IT Team members of status of deliverable services; Document activities in accordance with departmental procedures

Job Description
The Desktop Technician II is a member of the Desktop Group within Technical Services. This position concentrates on direct customer interaction and is responsible for all end-user technical activities taking place within assigned departments and areas. Responsible for end-user hardware and software installations, updates, maintenance, repairs, and other support within a 24x7x365 high-availability healthcare environment. End-user hardware includes desktops, laptops, and computers on carts, thin clients, tablets, and other mobile devices. End-user software includes various operating systems, standard applications such as Microsoft Office, and healthcare specific applications. Adherence to departmental and Desktop Group polices, directives, objectives, and procedures is required. Provides remote and face-to-face support to both internal and external customers with technical problems and requests including connectivity, access, computer hardware, operating system, and software application functions. Provides timely completion of requests and resolution of problems or escalation of those that cannot be handled directly to appropriate technical personnel. Provides ticket status updates to management and customers. Must have strong communication and customer service skills to successfully work with a wide variety of customers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems. Daily interaction with customers, Applications Analysts, Technicians, Engineers, and other members of the IS Division on the day-to-day operations of the environment. Will be required to provide 24x7 on-call rotation with some evening and weekend work required as necessary. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications ? Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two years relevant desktop support work experience in Information Technology within healthcare or other 24/7 high-availability environment. OR Three years relevant desktop support work experience in Information Technology with at least two years experience being within healthcare or other 24/7 high-availability environment.1. Demonstrated experience working in a heterogeneous LAN/MAN/WAN environment installing, implementing, and testing a wide variety of vertical and off the shelf applications as well as diverse hardware.2. Demonstrated knowledge of network communications and server-client environments.3. Strong technical and customer service skills a must.4. Must demonstrate excellent written/verbal interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.5. Ability to build organizational partnerships with others, and be able to negotiate and build consensus.6. Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks. Must take the initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision and direction.7. Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative, and analytical abilities.8. Must be able to work varied shifts and/or additional hours.9. Ability to read, write, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
