Registered Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant - Critical Care - Overnight Shift Work Schedule:
4/10 schedule Wednesday-Saturday 9pm-7am
Pay range : RVT $30 - $40 /hr VA $26- $34/hr
Overnight shift differential: $5.50/hr after 6PM

Who you are:
We are looking for an experienced Critical Care Technician to join our Overnight Shift: Wednesday-Saturday (9pm-7am)!
You will be the 'right hand' to our veterinarians on-staff, the helping hands we need to maintain the highest level of care and comfort for our clients' beloved pets. You are dedicated and passionate about enhancing lives through superior pet care. You thrive in a fast-paced environment which fosters your growth and supports your development to help you achieve your greatest potential. But most of all, you enjoy working with animals and their people!
Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:
Perform nursing care for critical cases, consistently evaluating the patient
Calculating CRI's and providing advanced hospitalization care
Perform in house laboratories
Proficient in IV catheter placement
Give accurate and detailed patient rounds
Perform safe restraint for fractious and frightened patients
Obtain TPR's, keep medical records, understand when to alert DVM
Advocate for the patient and client
Basic Required Qualifications:
High school diploma
2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
An active CA state RVT license is preferred but not required

Under the management of the Veterinarian and the Technician Supervisor, the technician will assist in providing quality care to all animals at Washington Blvd Animal Hospital. The technician/tech assistant will coordinate and perform various duties involving patient care and client education.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Follow digital treatment plans prescribed by DVM
Safe and effective patient handling and restraint
Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
Competency in emergency and surgical care - including IV catheter placement
Professional, compassionate communication with clients and staff.
Obtain quality lab samples via venipuncture, cystocentesis, fecal collection, etc.
Perform in-hospital laboratory diagnostics including, urinalysis, cytologies, etc.
Process lab samples utilizing in-hospital laboratory equipment
Use low stress patient handling techniques
Perform diagnostic radiographs
Administer injections, medications, nursing care as directed by a veterinarian
Administer sedation for minor procedures
Administer and monitor general anesthesia, if required
Maintain accurate, complete digital medical records
Maintain a clean work environment to include following any infectious disease protocols, handling medical/biomedical, and infectious waste appropriately

You will ensure patients are clean, dry, and presentable at time of discharge from the hospital, as well as provide general husbandry care such as bathroom breaks, cleaning kennels, performing baths and providing fresh water.
This is an entry level position, designed for those who are currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program or similar educational field. If not currently enrolled in a program, you must have previous veterinary or wildlife clinical experiences to be considered for this role.
