Make-Ready Technician/Detailer - Auto Dealership

Job Responsibilities

  • Train and assist other make-ready and detail techs
  • Maintain inventory and order make-ready supplies
  • Act as liaison between department staff and sales managers to facilitate the process for new and pre-owned vehicles
  • Detail client vehicles as needed
  • Maintain strict adherence to dealership policy on client vehicle care and operation
  • Note damage and notify service so a claim can be filed within 24 hours
  • Perform quality control inspections of all vehicles before being brought to frontline
  • Coordinate with sales and service to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Attend department meetings


Education and/or Experience


High school diploma or GED; 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training; Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.


Compensation


Compensation is based on experience and commensurate with Fortune 500 companies.

Detailer Responsibilities:


As an Auto Detailer you will be responsible for the interior and exterior cleaning of vehicles according to company standards and applicable safety measures.
  • Maintain supply inventories and monitor the cleaning equipment and machinery for proper operation and maintenance.
  • Perform cleaning on vehicles, using cleaning supplies and equipment e.g. brushes, scrapers, vacuums, solutions etc.
  • Apply polishes, conditioners, waxes and/or masking materials to preserve, protect, and restore vehicle's interiors and exteriors.
  • Inspect parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness and damage.
  • Clean engine and engine compartments.



Qualifications:

  • Prior detailing experience preferred.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.

Position Overview

Join Gerber and grow with us! We're looking for people who can help our teams WOW all of our customers by taking care of the details that make a difference. The Porter position efficiently cleans customer vehicles after Collision Repair, helps maintain a clean and organized repair facility while also providing other services the team may need assistance with. This position often leads to rapid advancement within the organization as we prioritize promoting from within.

Job Responsibilities

  • WOW every customer through all phases of the process

  • Prepare customer vehicles to assist team members throughout the repair journey

  • Detail and wash customer vehicles including interior/exterior areas

  • Efficiently use product, supplies and materials while processing vehicles

  • Transport customer and company vehicles as needed

  • Pick up and return parts and vehicles to vendors for continuous production

  • Perform various duties to maintain a clean and safe environment

  • Attend/collaborate with team during daily production meetings

  • Complete required company and safety training

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

  • Automotive interest and desire to develop a career in the industry

  • Previous automotive experience preferred (work, school, hobby)
