Campus Coach (Detroit Promise - Schoolcraft/Jackson Community College) Summary: This position is grant funded and will only be maintained as long as the funds are provided by an external source. The Detroit Promise Campus Coach is a member of an integrated team providing individual academic and personal support to an assigned group of Detroit Promise students. Campus coaches will support students for three full years, from their transition into college as first-time freshmen to their completion of a community college degree with new cohorts assigned annually. The goal of the Detroit Promise Campus Coach Program is to increase semester-to-semester persistence, credit accumulation, and graduation rates among Detroit Promise students. Primary Duties of the Campus Coach: * Delivers comprehensive, intrusive coaching to an annually assigned caseload of students from college entry through degree completion. * Assists students with engaging in campus support services and navigating college life. * Supports students during the summer with completing college transition processes. * Reviews student progress and tracks student participation in a management information system specific to this program. * Maintains close, ongoing, and productive interaction with school faculty and staff, administration, and student support service professionals across campus and conducts outreach as needed to support student success. * Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunities. * Regularly reviews data reports on student participation and student outcomes to improve program operation. * Organizes periodic special events and programs for students, faculty, and staff. * Supervises and collaborates with interns placed in the program. * Assists with program development and building community collaborations and partnerships. * Participates in regular program meetings and ongoing trainings. Campus Coach (Detroit Promise - Schoolcraft/Jackson Community College) Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or higher * 1-2 years of experience teaching, counseling or coaching students in an environment that serves large numbers of first generation college-goers. * Experience with successful college access programs would be extremely beneficial. This position will be based primarily in the field, at least 3 days per week at the assigned community college. Valid MI driver's license and transportation for traveling outside of the office. Candidates will need to be innovative and flexible. They will need to be effective and timely in all data requests and processes. An ideal candidate will respond to changing program needs throughout implementation.
