DWS' Alternatives business has been investing in the asset class for more than 50 years. The Alternatives Strategy and Business Development Team has been recently established to support the newly appointed Global Head of Alternatives. This team will be responsible for developing and executing on the strategy for the Alternatives business in collaboration with key stakeholders across the Alternatives and the broader DWS. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team to help shape the next phase of our Alternatives business, which is a strategic priority for DWS.
Description
The Managing Principal, Alternatives Strategy and Business Development role is a newly created function tasked with helping design a strategy across the Alternatives business and through the entire value chain. The role will report to the Global Head of Strategy and Business Development and will be supported by additional resources to carry out the overarching program.
Responsibilities
* Help in the development of the business strategy, including prioritization of pipeline and creation of the revenue and AuM ambitions in collaboration with Product and Client Coverage divisions
* Support in the development of inorganic agenda (M&A, JVs, and other expansion in initiatives); source and execute Alternatives M&A opportunities in partnership with DWS Strategy and M&A
* Lead the implementation of key strategic initiatives, including new external revenue opportunities as well as internal efficiency initiatives
* Review and track performance of Alternatives business across key aspects (product pipeline, capital raising targets, and investment performance) against Alternatives KPIs
* Develop and maintain market view on investment/focus across Alternatives; and investor/equity story on Alternatives
Qualifications
* Minimum 8 years of professional or equivalent experience in consultancy, investment management, corporate strategy, investment banking/M&A or related field; preference for candidates with Alternatives background
* Proficiency with reviewing Excel models and preparing Board-level presentations with strong attention to detail and ability to deliver clear and concise communication of key insights
* Knowledge of project work as well as consulting-type frameworks and tools to develop robust and concise analysis and recommendations to support the preparation of decision papers
* Highly driven, solutions-oriented, and motivated individual with proven track record in developing and executing on strategic initiatives
* Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity around the key trends driving asset management and Alternatives
* Strong teamwork and collaboration/communication/presentation skills; ability to work across organizations and in unstructured environments
* Ability to lead teams and manage/mentor junior team members
* University degree (business management, economics or scientific background preferred); Master, MBA or doctorate preferred
* Quick comprehension, high solution competence and willingness to work closely across the value chain in order to drive implementation

Expectations
It is DWS's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the firm's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $245,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
