Team Description:
Global Information Security (GIS) supports all of Disney's business segments, including Disney Entertainment & ESPN (DE&E). Responsibilities of Role:
Design and develop internal cybersecurity tools and services to support compliance, visibility and risk modeling functions.
Build and maintain integrations between legacy, in‑house, and cloud‑based systems using APIs and SDKs.
Implement and manage IaC frameworks to automate security configuration and auditing workflows.
Collaborate with compliance teams to translate audit and control requirements (SOX, PCI, etc.) into code‑based solutions and enhancements in existing applications.
Contribute to data ingestion and analytics pipelines that improve visibility across cloud and on‑prem environments.
Develop AI/ML models to assist with automated risk categorization, configuration detection, or control validation.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $141,900 to $190,300 per year and in Seattle, WA is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

Job Description
The Software Development Intern contributes to ONC's mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by completing essential tasks in the Technology department at ONC. The Software Development Intern is responsible for building and maintaining our website. This intern will research and use various software programs. They will also implement new features according to incoming design and functional requirements. The Software Development Intern will work closely with the Director of Technology, the Software Development Team Lead, and various other team leads, but most work will be completed independently. Therefore, time management is an essential skill for this role.
This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. The Software Development Intern must commit to the Fall and Spring semesters (ending April 30, 2025). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:
Contribute to building and maintaining a website from scratch using frameworks.
Connect and maintain a database to the website.
Implement new features according to incoming design and functional requirements.
Document the code base and general structure of the overall product.
Write high quality applications that can achieve massive scale.
Document user requirements, create design documents, develop self-documented code, conduct testing, and create user and system documents.
Communicate effectively with the team leads, Director of Technology, and COO as needed.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript)
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
Basic understanding of software development methodologies
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Demonstrated passion for software development through personal or academic projects
