Your Opportunity
Our Buildings team is looking for a Project Mechanical Engineer with a focus in HVAC design. You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as: healthcare, industrial, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratories or similar applications.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mechanical HVAC systems for a project.
- Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building's mechanical systems.
- Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
- Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client contact on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as providing support through construction administration.
- Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Work on multiple projects.
- Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
- Prepare field reports and punch lists.

- Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of mechanical codes, energy codes, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software (IESVE for HVAC, Trane Trace, and/or HAP).
- Demonstrates technical writing ability to author a discipline specific Basis of Design.

- Thorough understanding of HVAC concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the buildings design industry. Preferred candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer or is currently working toward professional licensure. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred. - Locations in VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 88,300.00 - Max Salary $ 128,000.00

**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS
The STW employee will be working mainly with the manager of the team, but will frequently be working with two other local team members on specific jobs.
This team is a materials compliance team so the STW employee will initially learn what materials compliance means to Cummins and how and why we perform our work.
Daily the STW employee will be assigned two regular tasks. 1. Review initial materials compliance submissions in two tools (CDX and Anthesis) to ensure the submissions do not have obvious errors in them. If found to be OK, then work is complete, if errors are found, then STW will communicate the errors and ask for corrections to be made. 2. Review status of old documents to see if they can be cancelled. Specific directions will be provided on how to perform this work. This ongoing cleanup ensures accuracy for our team.
As the STW employee gains confidence, additional tasks will be assigned in tools such as consolidating multiple submission entries from same supplier from different locations, learn how to recognize uploading errors and how to report the errors in an IT ticket, and accepting simple submissions.

Role accountabilities:
This role provides engineering and design services to produce design & construction documents for projects. They will coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project and prepare technical memorandums and develop design criteria, SCADA system architecture, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, and interconnection diagrams.
Additional duties include:
* Support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities and other similar industrial facilities, serving as Arcadis' main point of contact with our clients for their I&C needs.
* Project Manager leading all facets of project, to include; budgeting, planning, cost estimating, design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation & control systems.
* Support electrical engineering and developing electrical design to support the I&C systems design. Conduct factory testing, site acceptance testing, field checkout, and startup of I&C and SCADA system startups. Required Qualifications:

The Software Engineering Co-op Program with nVent's Electrical Connections (EC) Business is a structured experiential learning program that gives students the opportunity to couple their academic knowledge with practical situations in the work place, and simultaneously allows nVent to evaluate students as potential direct-hire talent.
