Description
The Sonographer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Sonographer demonstrates independent judgment in performing two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs and peripheral vascular systems for the diagnosis of disease.
Qualifications
* Required:
* Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
* ARDMS certification. New graduates must be registered within one year of hire date
* Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred:
* Graduate of AMA approved training program in sonography

Solis Mammography diagnostic medical sonographer job description
SCHEDULE: PRN, As Needed (16 hours per week)
HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm
The Diagnostic Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of diagnostic equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.
- Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
- Produces high-quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
- Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
- Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
- Appropriate monitoring during all phases of the procedure with special care taken to ensure patient emotional and physical well-being
- Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
- Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
- Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians’ offices as required.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety
- Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
- Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
- Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health. Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
- Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
