Responsibilities


This position provides patients with highly technical radiological procedures including the application of prescribed ionizing radiation and administering contrast agents/medications for radiological diagnosis. This position may also, under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging or Clinic Manager, coordinate the day-to-day operations of Diagnostic Imaging to ensure efficiency, quality care and service to patients.

Qualifications


This position requires a Washington State certification for Radiologic Technologist and
a certificate from the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT).
Graduation from an approved accredited program for diagnostic radiologic or successful completion of alternative training is required.
Must complete 24 hours of continuing medical education every two years.
Must have a valid CPR license to be renewed every two years.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology; strong organizational skills;
a willingness to grow with technological changes occurring in the field; the ability to manage stressful situations appropriately;
the ability to attend to multiple tasks and work independently; and the ability to be versatile, flexible are needed. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Our radiology department is currently seeking:
Weekday Radiology Technologist
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 pm; also be able to be flexible to fill other shift as necessary.
Pay:
Qualifications:
1. A graduate of an ARRT registered program.
2. Holding in good standings an ARRT license.
3. Licensed by Texas medical board (TMB )
4. BLS / CPR by the American Heart Association or the Red Cross
5. Knowledge of all diagnostic X ray exams.
6. Knowledge of C arms and OR cases.
7. Knowledge of fluoroscopic exams and procedures And be able to work with the Radiologist to complete these exams.
Job Duties

1. Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to select Diagnostic exam. Communicate with Radiologists to discuss stat/urgent findings. If modification of a diagnostic protocol is necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate diagnostic exam, and document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Ensure other resources such as nursing, anesthesia, and scheduling are in order.

2. Interviews patient (two patient identifier) and obtains medical history pertaining to prescribed exam’s clinical criteria. Explains procedure and instructs patient on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answers questions and screens patients regarding the administration of oral and IV contrast. Observes patients for adverse reactions. Able to activate the organizations emergency codes.

3. Assists the physician as needed in performing diagnostic procedures. Ensures that images and information are properly documented with patient identification data and appropriate labeling in the electronic health record. Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.
4. Utilizes the organizational culture behaviors to include AIDET.


5. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Performs diagnostic exams ensuring that patient meets radiation safety requirements to ALARA and Image Gently principles. Assist patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam. Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and evaluates the patient's ability to tolerate.
6. Performs QC testing and reports problems with Diagnostic system and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership.

7. Maintains various quality control and radiation safety compliance including (ex. daily, monthly, yearly QC) and archives.
8. Must be able to lift push or pull 40-50 lbs.
9. Responds to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional manner. Utilizes the organizational standards.
10. Communicates shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
11. Actively participates in providing orientation and training for new hires and students ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards and protocols. Functions in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team, and collaborates in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines.
12. Prioritizes exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times and address stat requests.
13. Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, competencies, regulatory compliance, infection control, hospital education, new yearly metrics/department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscally responsible with regards to equipment, supplies scheduling, overtime, etc.
14. Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ensures that all processes and procedures are maintained to secure and protect all workstations in all work areas.
15. Utilize the Emergency Management criteria ie PASS, RACE and knowledge of where fire pulls and extinguisher are in a fire situation. Knowledge of emergency codes such as code blue, code white, and rapid response and your role in each of these situations.
