As a growing, team-oriented company, were looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Highway Grinder to join our crew.
Role Purpose
Safely and efficiently operate Diamond Surfaces highway grinder to meet production, quality, and safety expectations while representing the company professionally at job sites across the United States.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Operate a large grinding machine equipped with multiple diamond blades; adjust grinding settings using machine controls.
Transport Highway Grinder using a Class A CDL (tanker endorsement also required).
Maintain constant situational awareness of crew and jobsite activity.
Conduct routine equipment inspections; identify issues and perform minor repairs as needed.
Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELogs) and documentation.
Participate in ongoing safety, equipment, and operational training.
Work extended hours, various shifts, and travel extensively (weeks to months).
Support yard days and perform additional tasks as needed.

Able to operate Highway Grinder independently with minimal supervision after training.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive and operate the Highway Grinder safely and efficiently.
Including driving it in and out of traffic closures on highways/interstates.
Adjust machine settings using lever and control systems to achieve required grind depths.
Conduct pre-trip inspections as required by DOT compliance; report mechanical issues promptly.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with minor repairs.
Ensure safe mobilization of the grinder using CDL A tractor-trailer.
Communicate effectively with team members and understand field crew positioning at all times.
Maintain ELogs, jobsite paperwork, and daily production reporting.
Participate in yard days and support other company needs or tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Position Summary
The Water Truck Driver plays a critical role in supporting concrete grinding operations by ensuring grinding equipment remains consistently supplied with water. Position Summary
The Tanker Driver supports concrete grinding operations by operating and maintaining a tanker truck, managing slurry removal, and assisting with general jobsite labor as needed. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, travel-heavy construction environment.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
(General duties; not all inclusive)
Operational Support
Safely operate a semi with tanker trailer in support of grinding operations, including following grinder equipment during active work.
Including driving in and out of traffic closures on highways/interstates.
Transport and properly dispose of slurry at designated pits or disposal locations.
Perform tanker washouts, including climbing onto the tanker as required.
Maintain accurate E-Logs and comply with DOT regulations at all times.
Jobsite Assistance
Frequently get in and out of the truck to connect, move, and manage hoses for the grinder.
Assist with traffic control tasks, including moving traffic barrels when required.
Support other crew members with general labor duties to keep the job site running efficiently, including assisting on yard days.
Equipment & Safety
Conduct routine inspections and assist with basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs.
Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and equipment operators.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required
Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement
Ability to maintain DOT compliance, including E-Logs
Willingness to travel extensively and work long hours as project demands require
Strong safety awareness and sound decision-making skills
Preferred
Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting or repairing construction equipment
Prior experience working in highway, heavy civil, or construction environments

The Role We Want You For
The Site Safety Supervisor will provide support to the Project Staff and the Ventana safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. This will include, but is not limited to, assisting in development of a zero injury safety culture on each project, conducting at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, effectively communicate orientations for all new project workers, assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis, actively promote and participate in daily stretch and flex program, identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents, support corporate goals and initiatives, emphasize and support proactive safety such as near miss/hazard reporting, coach and recognize workers on safe work methods, report all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols and be a champion in motivating workers to perform their jobs safely! Your responsibilities will be all encompassing for each project you will be dedicated to.
The Specifics of the Role
Assist in development of the project safety program.
Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program.
Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor's activity on site.
Field tasks solo on a project Up to $80M.
Client interfacing.
Assist Site Safety Manager.
Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and with project staff to ensure proper compliance.
Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are per the OSHA\Clayco and in compliance with Federal and State standards.
Ensure and maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
Review each subcontractor's safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project safety program requirements.
Ensure that each subcontractor designates a safety representative that is properly trained in subcontractor's scope of work and has the proper authority to correct safety issues.
Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions.
Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
Stop at once any violation or unsafe acts or practices.
Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
Establish and maintain all required safety records.
Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
0-5 years of safety experience with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and techniques.
2-3 years of field experience required.
OSHA 30-hour construction accreditation.
OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus.
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
