The Die Machinist will perform a combination of duties that includes die sinking (trimmer and impression), die repair, die control, horizontal mill operations and CNC operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Calculates dimensions, plans machining, layout, and assembly operations. * Measures and lays outmetal stock for machining. * Sets up and operates machine tools including a variety of lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, and grinders. * Repair dies to specifications and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications. * Verifies dimensions, clearances and alignment of members and parts in die. * Ensure quality and verify conformance of finished work to specification/ * Dismantles die and repairs or replaces parts. * Performs minor maintenance, area housekeeping and material handling duties. * Keep record of documentation / update system as needed for each task. * Effectively maintain die shop materials and tools * All other duties as assigned. Die Repair Machinist6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday$30.00-$40.00 RESPONSIBILITIES: Makes Repairs to Die Cast Tooling. Works from drawings to analyze difficulties and diagnose repairs needed. Set up & operate standard tool room equipment including manual Bridgeport mills, Manual Engine Lathes, Drill Presses, Band Saws and Surface Grinders to machine parts for die casting equipment. Uses precision measuring devices. Makes new slides, cores, ejector pins and pinions. Cleans die cavities. Polishes molds and cores. Adjusts gates as needed Removes drag, straightens cores, drills water lines, ect. Assists in removing stuck castings from molds as needed. Routinely review production schedule and die repairs needed list to ensure dies are ready for production. Work directly with other department supervisors to expedite priority jobs in order to meet customer delivery requirements.
