2nd Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:15pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
• Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
• File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
• Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
• Perform other assignments as directed by your immediate supervisor and/or TTD Leadership.
• Stop production if unsafe parts, actions or poor-quality conditions exist.

Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent though graduation from a technical school is preferred.
• Complete a certified Apprenticeship program whereby the employee can demonstrate experience using various tools, including but not limited to knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic handheld measuring tools.
Abilities Required
• Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds.

2nd shift opportunity
Builds tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
Operates tool room machinery in a safe and productive manner during the build process.
Performs tool and die repairs on progressive dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.
Diagnose and trouble shoot dies in the bench area and make corrections.
Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections as required to produce quality parts.
Support press room operations by servicing die sets, trouble shoot dies and make corrections when possible with die in the press, and through using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and document.
Interface with both internal and external customers, participate on problem solving teams in production, and handle customer and supplier concerns.
Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
Support MOS and safety programs.
Also responsible for practicing good housekeeping standards. Performs other essential functions as assigned.
Requirements
Prefer high school diploma or the equivalent and completion of a certified 4-year apprenticeship program in die making and/or tool die making.
Tool and Die Makers must be able to stand on the concrete floor for the duration of work shift, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and use arms and hands.
Visual precision is needed for visually inspecting parts for quality at production equipment speed, and for reading documents, machine gauges, and precision measuring instruments.
Tool and Die Makers must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and repetitively lift up to 35 pounds from and to a height of 10-56 inches for the work shift.
Tool and Die Makers may be hired to work in a specific area, however, all team members are expected to be able to work in all production areas in order to promote productivity, quality & safety.
