Truck Chassis Assembler
Install chassis mounted tank and pumping equipment for use in the liquid waste industry. Most common uses for the trucks are portable toilet service, septic service, waste oil collection.
Most common installations include the mounting of a vacuum tank to the truck chassis with various types of mounting brackets. The vacuum pumping systems are generally power take off driven or hydraulic driven and are bolted to the truck frame. Water delivery systems are generally 12V electric driven, along with work lights, back up cameras, and other various safety systems. All legal lighting and bumpers must also be installed.
General Skills Needed:
General knowledge of 12 volt electrical systems and wiring installation
Ability to read wiring diagrams and blue prints
Ability to use measuring devices like a tape measure, levels and micrometer
Ability to use power tools like, drills, saws, air tools, etc.
Light welding, cutting & metal fabrication
General mechanical knowledge
Ability to safely operate lifting equipment like hoists and lift trucks
Ability to read installation manuals for a variety of truck equipment and install them as per instructions
PTO installation skills are a plus
Hydraulic experience is a plus

This job operates in a manufacturing operation setting. The role is exposed to high heat in the summer and low temperatures in the winter for limited amounts of time.

Position Summary:
Perform preventative maintenance of medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dolly under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Communicates and interacts with co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Primary Responsibilities:
Complete and perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) as well as identifying root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as “roadworthy”.
Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of parts.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

About the Job:
Diesel Apprentice is responsible for service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime. What You Will Be Doing:
As a Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Technician, you will be diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and components on all makes and models of on-highway diesel trucks and buses.
Primary Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot and locate mechanical deficiencies on buses and on-highway diesel truck engines and components.
Repair and/or replace all components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
Determine extent of necessary repairs including identifying major power-train overhaul needs and prepare orders for required services.
Perform welding and brazing, fabricate and modify parts, equipment, miscellaneous structures and attachments.
Complete all documentation (work orders, parts orders, inspections, warranty support, comments and time sheets) in a legible, accurate and timely manner.
Perform all work in accordance with established time, quality standards and safety procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
Additional duties as assigned by manager.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems, arc and oxygen acetylene welding, test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment and electronic components of vehicles.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely to diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions; follow oral and written instructions; read and understand operators and repair manuals; work cooperatively with others; work with minimal supervision and keep required records.
Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret technical information- schematics, technical manuals, technical drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
Skilled in ‘Basic' computer applications including email and internet usage.
The ability to communicate through email- sending & receiving notes, attachments.
Ability to read, analyzes, and communicate technical information.
Ability to write service reports that effectively communicate required information in an understandable (clear and concise) and useable method.
Ability to ask and properly respond to questions from customers and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Course work from accredited trade school, college or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics is desirable.
