Description Summary A Mechanic's job is to efficiently maintain to the highest quality all of W. O. Grubb's equipment, realize cost savings whenever possible, and help achieve the mission and goals of the company, while maintaining outstanding customer service. The Mechanic usually works under direct supervision and expected to work long hours with frequent standing and moving. Possible exposure to extreme heat or cold external temperatures, and subject to working weekends and holidays. Responsibilities: Responsible for performing PM and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems (including troubleshooting onboard computer systems), hydraulic systems (booms, outriggers, pumps), brakes and other basic components. Ensure that all service reports are completed correctly and submitted to the Maintenance Supervisor. Ensure that all routine maintenance is performed (and documented) according to specific equipment and manufacturer's specifications. Ensure that all required repairs are completed efficiently and cost effectively, and that all repairs are documented in detail. Ensure that all required reports and forms are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential: Must have the ability to work on hydraulic and conventional cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers and miscellaneous equipment. Must work well and communicate effectively with operator and other mechanics. Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test. Desired: Minimum of 3 years' experience in crane maintenance with proven troubleshooting skills. Experience in crane operations (CCO is highly desirable). Must work safely in a fast-paced environment - many times under pressure. Experience with Grove, Demag, Link-Belt and Liebherr cranes. Experience in diesel, gasoline and propane engines. Proven ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics. Creative thinking skills to make continuous improvements. Prefer candidates with proficient oral and written communication skills, technical skills, and functional skills. Willing to work day and night shifts, weekends and holidays. Work Environment The employee may be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. This position supports and works with personnel within various departments Responsibilities + Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger dericks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner. + Troubleshoot deisel and gas engines + Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service. + Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required. + Prepare and maintain records and reports. + Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines. + Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner. + Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications **Minimum** + MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS; 1/4" up to 2" + High school diploma, or equivalent. + Valid driver's license. + CDL class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment. + 5 years of experience. + Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics. + Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures. + Ability to do tune-ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoe, basic engine repair, and electric repair. + Basic diesel and drive train experience. + Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills. + Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs. + Ability to work in inclement weather + Ability to work schedule M - F; 7am - 5:30pm **Preferred** + 6 or more years of experience. + DOT Certified Flagger. + CDL Class A license. + Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair. + Air brake certification. **Physical Demands and Work Environment** This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Turner you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide variety of forklift models (electrical, propane, and some hydraulic). Your role will be critical in ensuring that our fleet remains operational, safe, and efficient. Our forklift shop is equipped with ARI-HETRA Lift Systems to "lift up" our forklifts for easier access. We are looking for a highly experienced Forklift Technician / Forklift Mechanic professional who can work independently. NOTE: This is Not a Forklift Operator role. Key Responsibilities: * Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and engine systems on a variety of forklifts. * Perform routine maintenance and inspections according to manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols. * Maintain accurate service records and provide detailed reports of work performed. * Respond to emergency service calls when required, ensuring minimal downtime for clients. * Order and manage parts inventory in line with operational requirements. Requirements: * Experience as a Forklift Technician / Forklift Mechanic (or in a similar role) within the material handling industry. * Previous experience as a forklift mechanic in a manufacturing plant is a plus. * In-depth knowledge of various forklift brands, models, and their mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. * Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. * Valid driver's license is required (CDL preferred but not required). * Forklift certification and any relevant mechanical certifications are a plus. * Physical ability to lift, carry, and work in varying conditions (some heavy lifting required). * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
