**Job Description:**
Seeking a reliable Temporary/Seasonal Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team in **Sylmar, California.** The Automotive Technician will be responsible for maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, from various manufacturers. These vehicles' propulsion systems include diesel and gasoline. Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems, including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls.

Position Summary

* Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
* Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed.
* Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.
* Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
* Maintain company issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
* Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
* Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
* This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by specialized vocational training in heavy equipment maintenance and repair and one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment.
Licenses and Certifications:
* Possession of, or ability to obtain by the time of appointment, an appropriate California driver's license.
* Possession of, or ability to obtain, nationally recognized industry specific technical certifications pertinent to the assigned areas of responsibility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in the field; to sit, stand, and walk on level, uneven, or slippery surfaces; frequently reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to operate varied hand and power tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various County sites; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work in and around machines; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or radio. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, constrictive workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
