Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
* Perform annual inspections on all tractors and trailers

* Document all maintenance done on work orders and update TMT timely & correctly
* Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units

SUMMARY
The Assistant Bus Mechanic supports the safe and efficient operation of the district's transportation fleet by performing skilled mechanical work in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of school buses and other district vehicles. RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform journeyman-level work in the repair, service, and maintenance of school buses and all district-owned or leased vehicles.

Perform all scheduled maintenance, including regular bus safety inspections, and carry out additional maintenance and repair tasks as assigned by the department head.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil and filter changes, tire repairs, brake adjustments, chassis lubrication, and servicing of wheel bearings and other components as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including shop settings, and is subject to fluctuating temperatures that may exceed 90 degrees at times. The work environment involves regular exposure to fumes, dust, odors, vehicle exhaust, dirt, oil, grease, and loud noise from equipment operation. Employees in this role work around and with machinery and motorized equipment and must adapt to changing priorities and frequent interruptions.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 75 pounds. The position requires frequent use of hands and fingers to operate specialized tools and equipment, as well as the ability to reach overhead, at shoulder height, and horizontally to place or retrieve materials and equipment.

Summary of Position
