DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. Ensures proper repair order documentation, i.e., complaint, cause and correction noted on every repair order with punch time for each operation. Reviews job status frequently, logging status and reporting any change in time or cost estimates to the appropriate service advisor and/or customer. Maintains an organized work in process through the dealership software system. Prepares estimates when required. Only flags a completed line on the repair order when the job is complete through the shop. Follows all warranty material disposition procedures. Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer. Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Perform a quality multipoint inspection on every vehicle to include supporting documentation; i.e. photos/video Documents all work performed and recommended within the dealership technologies. Road test all vehicles and document exact out mileage. SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or General Education degree (GED) in addition to 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. English language required, (Bilingual a plus) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Valid Driver's License Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background and drug.) Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing steering components, including the steering rack, power steering pump, and tie rods, to ensure precise and safe vehicle control. Ability to perform steering system inspections, alignments, and adjustments for optimal steering responsiveness and alignment. Capability to diagnose and repair charging system components, such as the alternator and battery, to ensure a reliable electrical power supply. Proficiency in testing and replacing faulty alternators, voltage regulators, and batteries to maintain proper electrical functionality in the vehicle. Ability to inspect and replace spark plugs, ignition wires, air filters, and fuel filters, cooling system, compression to improve engine performance and fuel efficiency. Proficiency in setting ignition timing and adjusting carburetors or fuel injection systems for optimal engine operation. Interacting with customers to understand their tire needs and provide recommendations. Proper greeting and phone etiquette. Maintaining and calibrating equipment, such as lifts and any specialty area equipment. Inspecting tires for defects and ensuring they meet safety standards. Maintaining records of repairs and other services performed. Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries. Requirements High School Diploma or GED required, vocational training or technical training program in automotive service technology or a related field preferred. Position Summary: The mechanic will be responsible for the day-to-day and preventive maintenance of the company's fleet, including heavy trucks, equipment, and light trucks. This role involves performing inspections, diagnosing issues, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems to ensure the fleet is fully operational. The mechanic will conduct routine tasks like oil changes, brake checks, and running diagnostic tests, while also maintaining accurate records and inventory. A minimum of one year of experience in servicing equipment is required, with experience in at least two of the following: heavy trucks, heavy equipment, diesel, light trucks, or automotive and gen sets. Strong communication, dependability, and physical capability are essential. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and tools encompassing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics of the fleet to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Ensure proper repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, utilizing industry-standard procedures. Run diagnostic tests to assess system performance and identify potential issues. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes and brake inspections, to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory of parts. Ensure physical fitness to carry out all required job functions. Uphold a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards. Undertake any other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the team and company objectives. Required Qualifications: Possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the daily servicing and maintenance of equipment. Experience must include at least two of the following: heavy trucks, heavy equipment, diesel engines, light trucks, automotive systems, and generator sets. Demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance tasks in a timely and precise manner, ensuring operational efficiency. Exhibit dependability, reliability, and a proactive approach to tasks with minimal supervision. Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and report issues clearly. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Must pass a drug/alcohol test and background check Must be Legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of basic hand tools and equipment. Ensure Compliance with Regulations: Maintain a general understanding of DOT regulations and state/federal laws related to commercial driver's licenses (CDL) to ensure compliance across operations. Monitor Vehicle Safety: Oversee truck inspections and ensure that vehicles with out-of-service violations are not allowed to go out, preventing potential pullovers or shutdowns. CDL Knowledge: Possess a general understanding of CDL requirements and the implications of violations on company operation Operate Equipment: Have the ability to drive and operate the equipment being worked on, ensuring hands-on knowledge of operational standards. CDL Preferred: While not mandatory, possessing a valid CDL or the ability to drive and operate a truck is highly preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods Ability to work in various physical conditions, including kneeling, bending, squatting, walking, standing for extended periods. Must adhere to safety protocols and always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) Must be able to commute to Ault, CO daily Compensation and Benefits: Salary: $25-$35 an hour, depending on experience and/or certifications.
