As a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Technician II, you will oversee the safe operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of MHE equipment, including electric and propane industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, hi-low lifts, scissor lifts, scrubbers/sweepers, battery charging stations and cars, and batteries, while also providing assistance to the Supervisor and Manager of Maintenance to ensure assets are managed in accordance with equipment and parts manufacturers, equipment and parts suppliers, EPA, OSHA, and applicable State and Local Codes.

You will contribute by:
+ Manage the repair of the MHE, including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs and preventative maintenance.
+ Conduct preventive maintenance (PM's) within manufacturer's guidelines/specifications and established timelines to include oil changes, filter changes, calibration of equipment, belts changes, inspections, adjustments, lubrication, etc.
+ Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system
+ Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals
+ Assist the battery technicians by assisting in battery charger repairs, battery changes for MHE, repair of plugs and tips of batteries and chargers, watering and washing batteries, acid spill clean up

Provides technical/mechanical assistance (troubleshoots) for difficult diagnostic/maintenance/repair situations to lesser grade mechanics. Provides guidance to procure parts, components or materials needed for repairs.
Maintains assigned work areas/garage and their equipment, machines, tools, and other devices in a clean, orderly, accessible and safe operating condition; performs housekeeping chores as required and/or directed.
Performs trouble/road calls as dispatched.
Complies with and enforces all safety rules, regulations and practices in effect and established/adopted by the Company. Promotes safety, safe work habits, and good housekeeping to include the reporting and rectifying, as qualified, any unsafe conditions or act. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
Prepares and maintains manually or by computer application complete testing, repair and maintenance, cost allocation documentation. Performs other clerical/administrative duties intrinsic to this activity including reconciling monthly procurement card statements, maintaining logs and/or schedules, compiling vehicle/equipment historical data and necessary documentation for reports; inputting required data into a computer program and extracting required historical or technical data from computer program or internet web sites.
Ability to report to and work at various garage locations as required.
OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other related work as directed/required.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Work Experience:
Completed all required Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal/State, OSHA Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs. Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
At least six years successful and progressive experience in all phases of gas/diesel/internal combustion engine-driven equipment.
Possesses a very good working knowledge of all codes, regulations (applicable FMCSA, DOT, HI state statutes), standards, and safety rules/regulation/practices of the regulatory agencies/trade/Company in addition to specialized knowledge of the design, construction, assembly, adjustment, maintenance and repair of gas/diesel/internal combustion engine driven equipment.
Ability to attain additional ASE certifications.
Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract.
Qualified in all phases of the work described.
Very proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
Preferably a high school graduate with technical schooling in automotive repair.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:
Possesses a Hawaiimechanic license or ASE certifications for the following: brakes (Med.-HD truck preferred), engine repair (diesel preferred) and electrical-electronic systems.

The Mobile Equipment Body Repairer/Mechanic possess working knowledge of equipment body construction, advanced metalworking skills, troubleshooting and diagnosis skills, and the mechanical aptitude to use a wide range of hand and power tools for repair and maintenance work. Incumbents manufacture body components, various brackets and clamps from sheet metal. Operates conventional machinery such as press brake, metal shears, punch press, roll machine, spot welder, welding equipment, punch press, and other shop related equipment.
Typical work performed:
Incumbent will repair and replace such damaged body components as fenders, panels, windows, and truck beds as well as repair damage to mainframes and body structural members such as door posts, door frames, skeletal frame work, and main support members. The work at this level requires the fitting of body to frame, doors, window channels, hoods, trunk lids and other parts. Additional repairs may include repair of damaged parts such as folds, wrinkles, and large tears in fenders, doors, hoods, and roofs. On occasion, perform duties related to United States marine Corps corrosion prevention and control, which includes but is not limited to: the application of corrosion preventative compounds, surface preparation and touch up, accurately identify Marine Corps category codes 1-5, the four stages of corrosion, and the correlation of category codes and the stages of corrosion. Perform other processes related to the Corrosion Repair Facility, which includes: disassembly and reassembly of equipment, equipment washing, masking, sand blasting, and coating application.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a CPAC Mobile Equipment Body Repairer/Mechanic:
· Determine the extent of damage to equipment bodies (e.g., dents, tears, cuts) and the most economical methods for repair
· Remove, cut, and reshape damaged metal. The work may involve using welding, filling, sanding, and other techniques to restore the structure
· Work on diverse equipment: Tasks are performed on a wide range of military equipment, such as trucks, trailers, engineering equipment, etc.
· Independent problem-solving: At this level, the worker must use significant judgment to solve complex problems, often improvising repair procedures or adapting parts for which they were not specifically designed
· Operate tools: Use a variety of hand and power tools, including those for cutting, shaping, and grinding metal
· Follow technical documents: Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other drawings to ensure repairs meet specifications
· Ensure applicable safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are followed in accordance with OSHA regulations
· Ensure shop areas and shop equipment are clean and operational, to include the conduct of periodic routine maintenance
· On occasion, conduct Corrosion Service Team operations; apply CPCs and operate surface preparation and touch-up equipment to include: compressors, application guns, grinders, vacuums, spray guns, etc.
· On occasion, accurately identify Marine Corps equipment Corrosion Category Codes 1-5, the 4 stages of corrosion, and the correlation between category codes and stages of corrosion
· As required, travel locally to perform duties of the position
Requirements
· Possess knowledge of metal body construction to determine extent of damage to estimate labor and material requirements
· Possess knowledge and skills to use welding and fabricating equipment to reweld body panels, weld metal tears, and use sheet metal machinery to fabricate or modify components and specialized parts
· Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to understand work orders, interpret blueprints, and determine material, equipment, and parts requirements
· Possess abilities to complete shop mathematics and sheet metal formulas
· Able to communicate effectively
· Possess a valid state driver's license
· Hold or be capable of passing a background check to receive identification credentials through the Defense Biometric Identification System
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
· During short-, mid-, and long, durations, work in tiring or uncomfortable positions
· During long-durations, mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights safely
· Frequently lift or carry items weighing 40 lbs. or less and lift or move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices
· During long-durations, work in indoor and outdoor weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.).
· Exposure to the possibility of burns or skin irritation from chemicals, acids, or lubricants
