Position Overview:
The DieselMechanic will be primarily responsible for inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of motor vehicle equipment. The DieselMechanic can expect typical assignments to include oil changes, transmission/motor repairs, and other basic mechanic duties on cars, trucks, and semis. Successful candidates will be able to work with little direction and be able to manage their time effectively. This role will report to the Anamosa, Iowa shop daily and will have to occasionally utilize the company vehicle to answer calls within a three (3) hour radius. Candidate should have their own tools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintains vehicles, which may include a company's fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, industrial vacuum trucks, industrial hydroblast (jetting) pumps, tractor/trailers, and other motor vehicles.
Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
Identifies mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.
Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
Plans and establishes timetable to complete repairs and maintenance.
Is able to visit job sites to inspect vehicles within a three (3) hour radius.
Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.
Submit purchase orders to ensure that there is a surplus of parts needed.
Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Must have two (2) to five (5) years of experience as a dieselmechanic.
Experience with vacuum trucks or water blasters.
