Job Purpose:
Performs skilled automotive mechanic work, being proficient in the repair and preventative maintenance of vehicles. Continuously learns to repair OUC vehicles with high proficiency in progression towards achieving Master Technician status. Involves general automotive and equipment repairs with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance procedures. Assignments will include, but are not limited to gasoline and diesel engine maintenance and repair, general welding, paint and body work, transporting equipment and small engine repair.
Primary Functions:
Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles/equipment under general guidance until proven capability;
Transport fleet vehicles, fuel, and equipment;
Repair Passenger cars, trucks, and equipment tires;
Perform mechanical repairs to gasoline and diesel engines;
Perform general repairs to electrical systems;
Troubleshoot through the use of diagnostic testing equipment;
Re-fuel and wash vehicles;
Perform mechanical repairs to air and hydraulic brake systems;
Learn and perform hydraulic repairs to vehicle/equipment under general guidance until proven capability;
Perform air conditioning trouble shooting, servicing and repair;
Perform small engine servicing and repair;
Perform general welding and minor fabrication;
Perform basic paint and body repair;

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a technical position responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of 177 waste water lift station equipment. Work is performed under close supervision with a focus on learning safe work practices, developing technical skills, and supporting the overall operation of the City's lift station system. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Utility Maintenance Mechanic & Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following essential functions represent the primary duties of this position, but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of responsibilities. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.
Technical Duties:
Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of lift station pumps, motors, and equipment.
Perform basic inspections and report abnormal conditions to senior staff.
Support pump removal/installation and site cleaning using basic hand tools and equipment.
Learn and follow confined space entry procedures and other safety protocols.
Maintain work areas, tools, and vehicles in a clean and organized condition.
Assist in maintaining proper documentation of lift station activities.
Training & Development Duties:
Participate in on-the-job training to learn about lift station systems, equipment, SCADA monitoring, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations and procedures.
Learn proper use of heavy equipment and safety gear under supervision.
Work alongside experienced Lift Station Mechanics to gain troubleshooting and repair skills.
Prepare for and work toward obtaining a Class C Wastewater Collections Operator Certificate.
Prepare for and work toward obtaining a Class B with (N) Tanker endorsement.
Administrative Duties:
Assist with documenting work performed and closing work orders.
Support inventory management by checking tools and parts in/out
Participate in after-hours emergency call-outs and provide technical guidance to responding staff.

Valid backflow certification or will obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.
Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker vehicle endorsement or able to obtain within 120 days of hire. An out of state class B CDL is acceptable, but selected candidates must obtain and provide a valid State of Florida CDL within thirty (30) days of start date.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience are in a relevant and related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

What Will You Be Doing?
The aircraft mechanic is responsible for performing various maintenance functions on company aircraft in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as all federal aviation regulations.
Essential Functions
Perform and assist approved work by their leads within the scheduled shift.
Ensure completeness of all assigned work documents and records.
Seek on-the-job training during work shift to ensure proper qualification standards are met and maintained.
Coordinate all activities with lead mechanic in charge or station supervisor.
Research all pertinent information and material for work scheduled on aircraft.
Maintain cleanliness of maintenance areas at all times.

Research all pertinent information and material for work scheduled on aircraft.
Input necessary data into the maintenance tracking software systems.
Enter completed work into maintenance tracking software systems.

Comply with and implement the necessary procedures in the MEL/CDL/NEF Program.
