OCTA is seeking skilled Mechanics to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair CNG, hydrogen fuel cell, and battery-electric transit buses. You'll troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. The starting pay rate for this position is $33.87 an hour. Pay rate increases incrementally according to the union contract. Current top wage is $43.50 after 36 months. Employees that work swing and graveyard shifts are eligible for a shift differential of 3% or 5% of their base pay, respectively. $3 more per hour can be obtained for completion and maintaining the H Series and L2 ASE certifications, with the potential to earn an extra $1 per hour for bidding into a Master Transit Bus Technician slot for a total of up to an extra $4 an hour on top of the base pay. Repair Shop Maintenance: * Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment. * Cares for and maintains shop tools and equipment in line with industry standards for automobile, equipment, and heave machinery maintenance and repair. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the upkeep and repair of shop tools, general housekeeping of assigned areas, and the inspection and documentation of building equipment and systems.
